We stayed at the Milton for 3 nights in February, 09. Happy with everything throughout our stay. On arrival reception was very friendly, and gave us a detailed map of the city with all the major attractions. About a 5 minute walk from termini train station (which we took from the airport, took about 25 minutes). About 10 mins walk from the Colosseum and Forum. There is a lot of nice restaurants around this area. Manzoni train station is literally right across the street from the hotel, which takes you to all the major attractions, however we found it quite easy to walk to everything, apart from the Vatican. Perhaps if you visit in the middle of summer it would be pretty hot walking to everything but we had no problem in February, beautiful weather.
You can buy a 24 hour pass for 4 euros if you want to.
Hotel was quite modern, the beds were very comfortable, nice room, bathroom was lovely. Room size was normal. I didnt find it small as a lot of people say about european hotel rooms.
Breakfast was the best we had out of the 6 hotels we stayed in across europe.
Provided everything you could want and was included in the room price.
All in all very pleased, would stay again!

The hotel stands right across the Manzoni Metro station - so if you are coming from the Railway station, take the Line A metro and get off at Manzoni. The colloseum is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel, and that's about the only historical site close to the hotel. One should stay near the Spagna or Barbariana metro stations if you want to be closer to most of historical sites or even the major shopping districts.
The Hotel rooms are nice and comfortable, but they do not have a proper restaurant. One of the bigger halls is used for breakfast in the morning, but for dinner, one has to use the bar which has about 4 tables only. The staff is very helpful though.

It is easy to get from FCO airport to this hotel (FCO > Leonardo Express Train > Termini Station > Metro to Marconi stop). The hotel staff was always friendly & helpful. I appreciated the fact that they spoke English. We spent three nights in a row here, then left most of our luggage in our room while we visited other cities around Italy. We returned at the end of the week to spend one more night in Rome before flying home. I was very comfortable leaving our gear in the room for several days. Everything was in its place when we returned.

I forgot our outlet/power adapter at home & they gave us one to borrow for the week. They also brought our luggage to our room when Delta Airlines dropped it off the day after we arrived in Rome. As many of the reviews state, the breakfast buffet was incredible. Of the three hotels we stayed at during our vacation in Italy, my husband said that the thought that this one was the best. There was always something that we both liked (I'm a vegetarian).

Our room was perfectly nice. It did face out on to the window but the street traffic didn't bother me. Those that have complained on this site about the street traffic or room size should spend more time taking in the city... that way when you get back to your room you'll fall right to sleep! Yes the shower set up was odd, but it works & wasn't a problem. Throw an extra towel on the ground & you're set. I didn't mind that there was only one English speaking TV station. Again, you're in Italy! Soak up their language, culture. It doesn't hurt anyone to be a bit disconnected from the goings on in the world for a week.

As many have mentioned, the hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk to the Coliseum (Colosseo). We walked everywhere in Rome- from the hotel to the Forum, Pantheon, Vatican, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, etc. I'm sure you can take the Metro to various places but we're fit enough & found it easy to get around on foot.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Rome & at this hotel. I would recommend it to others.

The main advantage of this hotel has to be the close proximity to the Manzoni metro station on line A, which is literally across the road. As I was travelling with an elderly relative this feature was invaluable for us to get around comfortably. We took the ATRAL bus from Ciampino for 1.20 Euros which took us to the end of the metro line. Buy your 3 day pass here and save yourself a taxi fare from the airport. San Giovanni in Laterano is a very short stroll up the road, and the Colosseum is 10 mins away (nice evening walk to see it lit up at night). Not too many places to eat around he hotel, we found it better to eat elsewhere, but the pizza place over the road is good. ATM machine close by. The room was advertised with tea & coffee facilities which were not in the room on arrival, however they were provided when I queried this. Rooms were clean and adequate if a bit small. I wasn't bothered by the noisy road but you might be if you are a light sleeper. Good variety at breakfast, although the juices were not fresh. On the whole the metro proximity made the stay; I paid E111 per night for a triple room with breakfast for 3 (with Booking.com) and I thought that was fair. Rome is wonderful!!

I went with my daughter for a 4 night break in this hotel. It was a 'secret' hotel on Last minute.com, which means you are not told where it is until you have paid! The list of amenities described were all technically there, but as others have said, the room was very compact, mainly because this hotel used to be a convent according to the receptionist. We asked to change to a bigger room, but were told we were already in one of the biggest! What must the others be like???? Also, a very strange arrangement in the bathroom - the shower at one end of the bath with the screen at the other. Also, a heated towel rail fitted over the bath. A new modern suite & tiles though. The main drawback for us was that the 'climate control' was not working, and reception told us it is only for the summer, and just to open the window. I have come across this before in Italy, where summer does not officially start until mid June regardless of the temperature. As others have said, Rome is very noisy - sirens, cars honking, church bells, dogs, you name it and even dustbins being emptied at midnight! We had the choice between baking or being kept awake ( the noise only reduces slightly between midnight & 5am) , but fortunately had brought my earplugs with me! In fact, I slept very well, but not so my daughter.

The good points - very clean, good breakfast & smack opposite the Metro. Near the Colosseum, but not much else, but the Metro got you to the main sights.

The bad - the area not the greatest, (grafitti absolutely everywhere), small rooms (that seems par for the course in Rome though), and the lack of air con.

HOT TIP - buy a 3 day Roma pass - it gives you unlimited Metro & bus travel (but not Airort Express) plus entrance to 2 attractions and discount on others. We didn't & lived to regret it.
