“WARNING: DO NOT COME HERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

I am writing this review in room 109 of Hotel Milton after a blazing row with a more than unhelpful member of staff. I returned from a day out yesterday to find a wet hand towel placed in my suitcase (which i'd left open) soaking wet, covered in pink lipstick. The only towels we used were 2 large and one for my hair- this one was too small to go round my head.

I immediately went to reception and was told to come back in the morning. I went back in the morning and was told to cone back in 15 mins. I went back 15 mins later and was told the manager had left. She told me to send him an e-mail to which i replied, 'will he actually reply?' she then said, 'i don't know'. She kindly gave me the permission to give a bad review but never apologised or offered some form of compensation.

I was already disappointed with my bare and TINY double bedroom, cracks around appliances, a leaking shower and bits of plumbing coming loose, but this really took the p***.
This was a special Christmas treat from my boyfriend and it has been completely ruined. I am so angry i could cry.
DO NOT COME HERE if you are expecting 4* quality, because you sure as hell aren't going to get it!!

Me and my girlfriend decided to go to Rome for a weekend break before Christmas as our presents to eachother. We were very pleased with the hotel we chose. We have been stung before on package websites so we had our fingers crossed it didnt happen again...and it didnt. Straight away the staff were very friendly and helpful giving us a map on where all the top sites were and how to get to them, also as our italian was worse than rubbish the staff all spoke very good english which was a help. The room (111) was a decent size with a nice bathroom, the only thing is that when you have a shower the shower head is positioned in such a way that water goes all over the floor and the shower door leaked a lot, but just put a couple towels down as they are changed everyday.

A very short walk (7mins max) to the colosseum which was spectacular and directly across the road from the Manzoni Metro station which is ideal and cheap to get around. The breakfast was very nice, with a massive array of meat, cheese, bread, cereal, croissants/cakes and eggs (just avoid the coffee and go to a cafe for that).

All in all a VERY enjoyable break and would definitely recommend Milton Roma for anyone who wants to visit Rome for the weekend. Thanks!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the front if you are not used to street noise

The Hotel is not located in the heart of the city but across the street from the underground and the trolly stops across the street from the hotel. It is within walking distance to the Colosseum The best part of the hotel was a front desk clerk named Rosaria. She had a great personality and could not do enough for us. I would advise asking for a room that did not face the front to avoid street noise.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights before we boarded our NCL cruise. The reception staff was friendly and helpful. He told us where the nearest ATM and laundromat were. The breakfast was delicious and had a good variety of food. It's right across the street from the Metro and walking distance to the Colosseum. We booked through expedia. At check in, we were told that everything in the mini bar was free...which was a pleasant surprise. Of the 3 rooms we had, 1 room had the minibar stocked everyday. The other 2 were not.

My only negative review is that the shower over the tub has uneven water temperature. And there was a tiny shower door that did not block the water so the floor was soaking wet! The other room had a decent sized shower that did not leak at all. The 3rd room had a TINY shower that also did not leak.

As for the A/C, since it was November, we didn't have to use it. If it got stuffy, I just cracked open the window.

Since the hotel is on a busy street, it does get loud, but it's not unbearable. There's also a cable car/tram that passed right outside the hotel. It seems like a minor earthquake every time it passes! It shakes the building a little, but also, once you're used to it, it's ok.

Overall, good value, good location, good service.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful with a wealth of information. The breakfast staff could have smiled a little more and said good morning but the breakfast was very good with a wide selection. The hotel is ideally situated across the road from the Manzoni Metro stop on Line A which is only two stops from Termini and made the purchase pre trip of hop on hop off bus tickets unecessary. Very few restaurants within a minute os so walk but a couple within five minutes.....it is very well located for the Colliseum and the Forum being an easy 6 to 8 minute walk away or take the Metro to Termini and get on Line B.....very enjoyable six day stay.

Room Tip: Room we had faced the street which was noisy with trams and buses however after a night it was not n...

It was a bit pricey (I traveled in July) so I went for a single room and at that price I still thought it was expensive. A lesson learned though as my single room was tiny! I'm 6' 4" so it was almost coffin sized! But honestly, it was pretty much used for sleeping only. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was worked excellently, which is rare. The room was very clean and cleaned every day which was nice and the reception staff were friendly but a bit of their English was a bit poor.

The breakfast was great, a huge selection of pretty much everything and it was delicious. The hotel is a bit dated and the bar was always empty which was a shame as I always like to have one final drink in the hotel before I go up to bed. The hotel is not situated in the most exciting or attractive of places but it was only a fifteen minute walk to the Colosseum which was great and the metro stop was right across the road, that really helped a lot.

Room Tip: Do not book a single room.
