“Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Me and my partner stayed here for a long weekend, very friendly staff more than helpful. Rooms are standard and clean as are the bathrooms. Breakfast is nice standard continental breakfast with friendly service staff, the location of the breakfast is amazing on the rooftop patio. Great location from all attractions and tour buses / train station / taxi bases. Ideal for a weekend city break. Only qualms we would have is that we stayed in the smallest rooms which would be a problem if you were to have large luggage as the would be no where to store it and the pillows are terrible. But we would stay there again.

We stayed here as it looked clean and was cheap....we definitely got a bargain! The location was great, not far from a metro connecting to all major sights and on a main shopping street with plenty of restaurants, cafés etc. The guy behind reception was very friendly, showing us where to go each day, marking our routes on maps, and telling us the history of the main sights and even suggesting places which are the real rome where there were not many tourists which was definitely a highlight. Breakfast was sufficient for being free

Great hotel...!!! The staff was very kind and the photos are really true. The breakfast is also very nice. Totally recommended. The location is perfect because is really in the center of the city and not far away from the main train station TERMINI.

This nice and friendly hotel is situated near the Station, but you can easliy walk to the center with its main attractions. So it is the perfect location for a City trip. Breakfast will be served on the roof terrace with an amazing view over the city. The rooms to the Via Nationale are quiet loud but with closed windows you can sleep well.

i would not recommend staying at the Opera Hotel for theses reasons:

1. Steep stairs to reception. No offer of help from staff with bags.
2. Couldn't give us a access key to the room for about 3 hours. (Room left unlocked)
3. Noisy. If a door elsewhere in the hotel closed it sounded loud inside our room.
4. Renovations were taking place when we arrived (A jackhammer in use).
5. Bathroom tiny and flooded every time we had a shower.
6. Bathroom so small our feet were in the shower recess.
7. Breakfast was ordinary for the room cost.(sweet cakes, cold boiled eggs, cereal, juice)
6.Staff spoke little or no English.
7. Our room was so small the chair was always in the way.

On a positive note it was located well.

Do not confuse this hotel with The Opera Hotel Roma on via Firenze as we did. That hotel is probably a very good one.

A convenient and comfortable hotel but with a somewhat odd feel. When we arrived the receptionist could not understand a word of english. We also had a tap on the door at 8am on the first morning by the breakfast lady and she persisted to talk to us in italian even though we repeatedly told her we don't understand.

When we checked out at 5am we found 'someone' sleeping on the foyer couch. He was not in uniform and for all we knew could have been a homeless man from the street using the hotel as shelter.

Apart from that the hotel is well located, closest attraction being the colosseum, around 15 minutes walking. From there you can then easily get to the other attractions. If you have the legs the Vatican is about 30-40 minutes by foot. Not sure if we would stay here again. Too much $$% for little return.

Do not stay in 4th floor rooms. The breakfast lady is up on the 5th floor at around 4-5am dragging chairs and getting the place ready for breakfast.

Our 3 night girls getaway started off on the wrong foot. Upon arrival for check in, we were told our room had flooded and they had to send us over to another hotel for our first night. Miraculously, our flooding would be fixed and dried out the very next day? I'm thinking they over booked the hotel and sent us lugging 50 pound suitcases about a quarter of a mile to the hotel commodore.
We returned the 2nd day (again with the luggage) and still no offer to pay got a quick cab ride etc.....Since it was before checkout we had to leave our bags for the day. They just sat in the very small lobby in front of and on the couch. They were still there when we returned after the entire day in Rome, but my friends new Italian handbag, did have a pillow over it for extra security! I will comment that the front desk was manned the entire time, but still seems like our luggage should be locked away.
The room was nice ( and by the way superior to the hotel commodore). Small but overall good for the heart of Rome. Good location close to termini and major sites in Rome. The staff was helpful.
Another odd event, we returned from our day of touring and our room was not cleaned. No fresh towels, beds not made etc. when we asked we were told we should have left our room key at the front desk (no one told us prior) but then it turned out our room door was left wide open all day? Not sure if we didn't get it shut or what went down......we asked for some clean towels and were told no, only the maid who already left could supply them.
There is a nice roof top breakfast area where we took our glass of wine in the evenings to enjoy a night cap al fresco. The breakfast selection is pretty minimal.
If I returned to Rome, I'd probably try to find another hotel. There was good (room, location, friendly staff, and roof top access) and then there was the odd things that happened leaving me with an overall ???
