My husband and I went to Italy and Rome was our first stop. I read the reviews for this hotel on this and various websites as well as looked at the pictures. Since I had never been before I didn't know what to expect, but I hoped that the pictures were true to fact and they were! My husband and I really liked this hotel. It was very very clean, comfortable, great and helpful hotel staff and great location - within a 5-20 minute walking distance to most of the main sites and the Metro which was about 5 mintues away and we took the Metro to Vatican City. We actually walked everywhere except to Vatican City (did the Metro for only 1 euro each way). Our room opened up to via Nazionale so it was nice to come back and open the windows and just hang out. However, our only complaint was that the air conditioner didn't get as cool as we would've liked it to at night; and we couldn't sleep with the windows open because via Nazionale is a busy street and often a bus would drive by. Other than that we really liked this hotel and would stay there again if we went back.

This is definitely a long overdue review of the Opera Hotel. We stayed last Feb 2007.

This hotel was recommended to us and was definitely a wonderful hotel in an excellent location. We decided to walk, with luggage, from the train station and only took approximately 10 minutes, not too bad! The hotel was very modern/contemporary, with all the amenties, and a very nice bathroom! Excellent breakfast brought to the room. The hotel staff were very helpful and offered many restaurant recommendations throughout our stay! The rooftop terrace, although closed during our stay, was a nice retreat to have a glass of wine in the evening and view the activity of the street below! There is an excellent supermarket directly across from the hotel. Overall, an excellent hotel in a great location and we will definitely return! Thank you!

We stayed at the Opera Hotel from 09/21/2007 to 09/26/2007. First the good stuff...The room was beautiful and very roomy by European Standards. It was well appointed with modern decor. The pillows and bed are some of the most comfortable I have ever felt in all my hotel stays. The maid and service staff was fantastic. Now the bad...Our big complaint is that the air conditioning was broken our entire stay. We were continually promised that it would be fixed the next day, or at the very least we would be moved to a room off the main street. The temperature in the room quickly reached the mid 80's with the window closed, and with it the window open the traffic noise from Via Nationale was extremely loud. It made sleeping very difficult for our entire stay. I wish they would have told us from the beginning that we could not be moved and it would not be fixed so we could atleast have tried to find different lodgings. The other big issue was with the mold/mildew in the bathroom. There was no ventilation and the beautiful marble shower looked like it was never sealed. You could see black mildew spots actually on the marble and it was all over the place in the seams and grout. It was sooo bad that when you shut the door to the bathroom for any period of time you were hit with a wall of stench upon entering again. If you suffer from mold/mildew allergies, avoid room 201. The maid staff was great, this was beyond there control and really a construction issue that needs renovation.

I (female) spent one night at the Opera Hotel in Rom, via Nazionale, and it was really nice. Unfortunately the hotel has only rooms towards the street which is very noisy, but his location is great. If you have heavy luggage you need to climb some steps until you reach the reception, not really nice if you are travelling without man...

This hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to a ton of historical sites. The rooms are very modern and clean and the bathrooms are a far size. There is now an elevator however it is easier to use the stairs. The staff is friendly and helpful.

One tip...if you are walking to the location from the train station be aware that the street No.s run 1 - 99 on the left and 99-300 on the right, they do not alternate as they do in North America. We walked right by the hotel.

We stayed at the Opera Hotel for the 1st 2 days of our honeymoon and we would highly recommend this property. It is in the perfect location and is small and quaint. Our airconditioning did not work well, but it was not intolerable.
