Really enjoyed my stay here for the purpose. For someone new to Rome even though it is close to some sights it might be a little out of the way and hard to find. I was adventurous traveling alone took to airport rail from the airport to Main Termini and hopped on the subway which wasn't too bad except once I got out it took a lil' asking around to find the place even with the map at hand since for anyone that's been to Rome it's not a grid system. The staff was nice to email and send me directions but still got lost. But through divine intervention, a nun walking on the street showed me the way after many "Mi scuzis" to other Italians around. Location: it's nice and quiet and appears to be more locals around. As far as places to visit, the first Catholic Catherdral in Rome is a few steps away. I was adventurous and took the lil' bus that went around the major sights, but do make sure you hop on the right bus, the hotel staff is a good resource to show you the best bus to take ..and again, be brave to bug a couple of nice Italian around which I did if you have questions.
As far as accomodations, I was in Rome really only one day to rest and sleep since I flew out to my next destination the next day. It was the perfect place, relaxing, quiet, and cozy. And for European room standards, quite roomy. I love the minimalist zen design, and the bathroom, again by European standards, is quite roomy and has all the basic amenities. As far as amenities, it's nice to have access to a computer/internet in the main area.
But what made this stay wonderful, is the staff who went above and beyond in making my short stay nice. It was nice to get the help I needed for rapid connections. And if you don't speak, Italian but is proficient in Spanish, you can communicate with the owners which was nice too.
I would highly recommend this cozy gem for those looking to stay outside the hub of tourist haven but is adventurous enough to experience the periphery of the outlying areas of the city and get a good night sleep or as for me ,a good day of rest and sleep!

My husband, 14 year old son and I stayed 3 nights at the B & B. It was wonderful. The staff were very nice and very helpful.
We arrived early and there was no problem (or cost) for leaving our luggage at the hotel until our room was ready. We had booked a regurlar room but they upgraded us to the suite for 2 of the nights. The suite had a wonderful patio. The rooms are grouped around an interior centre courtyard/lobby. We did not always get up at the same time so it was a lovely place to read while I waited for the others to get ready.
The breakfast is not served in the B&B. I thought this might be a problem but it was not. They give you a coupon to have breakfast at a local coffee shop or bakery. I enjoyed watching the locals while we had our breakfast.
The location is very convenient and I always felt safe.
It was very hot when we were in Rome so the free bottles of water that the B&B supplied were greatly appreciated.
It was a great experience!

We stayed at San Jouan Guest House for 3 nights. I was a bit nervous from some of the previous reviews about the botched reservation system, but fortunately we had no problems. I kept emailing to double check that everything was set and to confirm our arrival time. It all worked out fine.

The B&B was excellent. The room and ensuite bathroom were spacious, especially for Rome, and were kept impeccably clean. The common areas inside and out in the courtyard were very pleasant. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had breakfast coupons for a nearby bar which was also nice. The room had wireless internet access and also there was a PC in the lobby for use by the guests. The Sky satellite TV system was nice - it was the first time we got to enjoy some English-speaking TV and news programs during our stay in Italy. The free cold bottled water was a nice treat.

Location was not as central as I hoped, but it was only a 10-15 min walk to the Coloseum. It was close to several metro stations - the closest station was closed during our stay. Handy buses were also nearby to take you to many other parts of the city. Several restaurants nearby, recommended by Nestor at the B&B, were very good. Osteria Buoni Amici in particular was a great bargain and the staff was friendly and high-energy. Just be careful when they try to convince you to drink the Limoncello - that stuff is strong! :-)

Having stayed in Rome before I had braced myself for the worst staying in a small and not too expensive B&B - but was positively surprised. The hotel was one of the cleanest I have ever seen in Rome, the rooms were charming (and quiet) and staff was friendly, the free supply of water bottles an added bonus. Will happily stay there again - was very pleased overall
