I found this B&B on TripAdvisor and the majority of the reviews were great so decided to book it for 18-20 May. We stayed in Matisse itself, room No. 9 (the one that has ensuite bathroom) We arrived late on the 18th, Sav was there to welcome us, gave us a map and info about the area - location, places to eat etc, very helpful! We checked into our room and headed over to the Irish bar for food and a drink. This B&B is in a great location, being on Via Nazionale it is very central to lots of places, the only place we took a bus to was to the Vatican, everywhere else we walked to.
Sav suggested restaurants in the nearby area which were great, definately try 'Target' which is one the same side of the road as Matisse, out the main door and to the left, 2 streets along. Lovely restaurant to eat dinner outside.
Having access to some food & drink in Matisse 24hrs was an added bonus. Our room was great, we had a double bed with ensuite. I think our room was the only one with the ensuite all the other rooms had bathrooms located across the corridor or down the other end of a corridor. Great air con as well.
Both Sav & Electra were extremely helpful throughout our stay. Would definately recommend this B&B. Hope to return someday - Victoria & Ashley

This was our second trip to Rome after visiting it five years ago. We stayed at Matisse B&B after being recommended by a friend. The B&B was very good value and had everything we needed. The room we stayed in was lovely. A decent size, clean, nicely decorated and with a comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. We had a great view of a church from our room which was on the side of a main road but with triple glazing windows which meant when closed you could not hear a sound. Rome is made for exploring and there is so much to see and such great food that we did not want to book into a hotel. That aside it was good to have access to all day breakfast provisions when we got hungry. Having a computer in the nice communal area was nice too. The location is great as it is only a five minute walk to the nearest main train station which has regular trains that take you straight to the airport. Final verdict a big thumbs up for Matisse

I found this wonderful bed and breakfast through a friend, who had a wonderful experience at Matisse. I'm so glad I took his advice because this was a great place. Roberto, the owner was so kind and wonderful and really made my stay as comfortable as possible. It's located right in the center of Rome, in a beautiful building with a fountain, and I was within walking distance of all of Rome's ancient monuments. My room was clean, neat, and comfortable and the bed was very soft. Another feature that I loved was the 24 hour complimentary coffee, tea, juice, and croissants. I saved so much money on breakfast! Also the staff members were great...always ready to answer any questions or suggests places to eat. I plan on returning because the rates are great, for all the features and amenities provided. I had such a pleasant time and I recommend Matisse wholeheartedly.

I finally returned to Rome after a 21 year absence and what a great place to start a solo journey. Matisse is so central it gave me the perfect place to reorient myself and get to know the incredible city of Rome again. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful (a rare gem of a trifecta in rome) and Sav gave me some great tips for affordable and quality bars and restaurants. It was always great to return to my cosy little corner at Matisse after time out and about in Rome. Can I come back now?
