We booked an executive double and received an upgrade to one of the garden rooms on the 4th floor upon arrival. Very nice upgrade as our room opened up to a private garden terrace, our own little lush eden in the middle of Rome! The hotel rooms, facilities, etc. are really top notch. Comfy bed too, and very quiet room in the middle of Rome. The housekeeping staff and butler are quite nice, and we enjoyed complimentary coffee and snacks in the afternoon, in addition to the usual complimentary breakfast. Other little touches included a gift of bulgari perfume and free airport transfers (for those staying more than 3 nights). All in all, it is a great hotel, though quite pricey even compared to SF or NY hotels. The big complaint is about the front desk staff--we had asked for restaurant reservations well before arriving in Italy, and emailed multiple times for confirmation without getting any answers. Upon arrival they told us they had made reservations for us, but when we looked up one of the restaurants they booked us at we found out it was closed for August! They later booked us at a different restaurant, and when we arrived it was completely empty -- we decided to go to another restaurant rather than eat at an empty one. Finally we had asked them to book us at Casina Valadier, which I read about on Tripadvisor, to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived at the restaurant they couldn't find the reservation, and luckily could seat us but not at one of the more desirable tables as those had been reserved in advance. If we are paying between $500-$700/night, I would expect the concierge to at least provide the simple service of booking restaurant tables for us for the few nights we are there! For that i say it is not a great value. If I had know it would've been a problem it would have been quite simple for me just to call the restaurants myself.
