We stayed here for our wedding and the beginning of our honeymoon. The staff was great, they really went over and above to help us. They even found me a last minute hairdresser a few blocks away. Beautiful, unique, clean and modern. I wouldn't change a thing. They even do evening snacks in the beautiful lounge and roof terrace. Incredible deal for the price!

Having booked at the Inn at the Spanish Steps on a family plan, on the last two days of our stay we were offered to take advantage of the Time Machine package. This allowed us to spend two nights at The Inn at the Roman Forum which we accepted. The Inn at the Roman Forum is an incredible place. Ruins of a roman republic period villa (2200 B.C) behind the reception, terrace with an amazing view over the Roman Forum and an unbelievable garden on the fifth floor. Look at the website if you don´t believe it. We never thought a place like this could exist. Coming to the rooms, they are just amazing and have everything. Charm, style, modern technology and more... The place is so nice that it is difficult to share with others.

After reading through a lot of reviews on tripadvisor, i finally decided on this hotel. And i was not dissappointed.

Like many of the other people who went there, we got a room upgrade instantly (we had to leave for two days during the week we were there, and the second time we got back, we got an even larger room than the first time), and the receptionnist was really friendly and helpful.

The rooms were quite spacious, comparatively to european hotel standards, room and toilets clean, water pressure from the shower was good, and even though we were staying right below the dining area on the fourth floor, the noise was acceptable.

Breakfast area was nice, with sofas and fireplace. The food was ok, with cereals and bread/pastries, coldcuts and fruit, not spectacular, but not bad.

IT's actually not too difficult to find, if u should be takiing a taxi to arrive there, ask them to get to the end of VIA BACCINA, most taxi drivers would be able to find it quite easily. There's also a nice restaurant just nearby, at piazza madonna dei monti.

We fancied a small boutique hotel for this trip, and the Inn at the Roman Forum looked perfect. Plenty of charm, and some unique furnishings, plus the historical nature of the building and area made the choice easy.

Upon arrival, we discovered our room was pretty small, and not as well appointed as we had hoped. Almost no storage for clothes meant we were living out of our suitcases for the 4 nights. I asked if we could be moved to a bigger room, and the opportunity was there, but only for the last night. It wasn't really worth moving for 1 night out of 4, so we persevered. The lesson to learn from this is when choosing a boutique hotel, and especially in a historical and unique building like this, rooms will vary alot, and you'll only see the nice ones on the website. Another couple we met there had the same concern, so beware.

The ceilings and walls were also very thin. Another problem presumably caused by the age of the building. We could hear very clearly the shower and plumbing above, but this was soon drowned out by the chap on the phone outside the window.

Away from the bad points, this hotel really did have an "out of the way" feeling, which was nice. Well away from noisy revellers, and the entrance looked more like that of a posh set of apartments, which meant we almost missed it.

The concierge/front desk guy/night porter (all one guy) was very helpful and suggested some nice restaurants and had plenty of touristy information to dish out.

One of the nicest things about the Inn at the Roman Forum was the breakfast room and terrace. Unfortuately, travelling in November, (the rainy month on Rome), we were unable to eat breakfast on the terrace, which had what would have been a lovely view in the summer, but the breakfast room was easily comfortable enough to make up for this disappointment. Very nicely, (and importantly, comfortably) laid out. I felt very at ease, almost like having breakfast in your grandma's sitting room, but a little more luxurious :-) The breakfast was great, and the perfect start to the day. Nice to be served until 10:30 also, and they were not at all bothered about us finishing off at 10:50.

All in all, a nice little place. If you're after the large, grand four poster rooms though, be sure to book the superior rooms, or confirm with the hotel which room you'll be put in to avoid disappointment. The smaller rooms will undoubtedly put a dampener on the stay. I'll try somewhere else next time, but definitely one to put at the top of the list in good weather.

  • Liked — Charm and private feel
  • Disliked — Smaller room than was reasonable

We stayed 2 nights at the Inn at the Roman Forum in Rome, Italy. Its a pretty quick ride from Termini by cab (about 12 Euro). Luckily the cab driver had gps, as this hotel is in a one way alley behind the Hotel Forum. We got updgraded to a suite. Our room was amazing, beautiful dark wood floors, 4 poster bed, huge flat screen TV, great marble bathroom, jacuzzi tub. Great hairdryer and they even had a curling iron! Its definitely a small boutique hotel, we booked through Small Luxury Hotels website. The clientele are mainly business people. They have a fabulous outside balcony on the top floor where you can eat breakfast every morning. Breakfast was great, scrambled eggs, quiche, cheeses, meats, toast, cereal, etc. Definitely enough to keep you going for the day. Its a 5 min. walk to the colleseum, so the location is fantastic. Down the street from the hotel in the little alleyways are several great restaurants, decent prices. I would highly recommend this hotel for its great location and great ambience.
