After my first trip to Rome in 2003 I quickly learned that the most important detail in booking a hotel in Rome is to be far from the Termini Train Station. There are number of areas to choose from but being close to the Piazza Navona is especially nice when you have a short visit in Rome. My fiancee and family stayed here for only one night in October in an effort to squeeze in some time in my favorite European city on our way up north to Siena.

The staff was very friendly and allowed space to store our bags during the day. They had wonderful restaurant recommendations and were happy to call cabs for us. The bathrooms were phenomenal which is important after flying all night and arriving in warm weather.

The rooms were clean and quiet and they came with vouchers for a complimentary local Italian breakfast of croissants and espresso - the breakfast of champions for weary travelers!

Considering its prime location near the Piazza Navona and all the little "extras" (slippers, hard candy and breakfast), we wished we could have stayed longer.

The only complaint was having to walk our suitcases up a few flights of stairs however it was well worth it to be safe and comfortable.

Just spent four nights at this incredibly convenient specialty lodging. It's so close to everything, and is clean and safe.

I was able to catch the No. 40 bus from Termini on arrival from Firenze. The locals were happy to help when I asked where Piazza Navona was (it's the nearest landmark to Locanda Senatorum). Via dei Sediari is a short walk from Corso Vittorio Emanuele if you get off at the fourth stop after leaving Termini.

I was travelling solo in Rome, and could walk everywhere I wanted from Via dei Sediari. About 3 mins to Pantheon, 15-20 mins to Colosseo (if you don't stop to shop or look at massive monuments), and about 20 mins to Vatican City.

The room was kept spotless and was well presented. The staff Renata and Ravi were always helpful and courteous. I was fortunate to meet the owners Anita and Massimo as well. They made me feel very welcome.

Although the location is fabulous, be aware that there is no elevator, and about 48 stairs to the LS level. This is not a problem after getting the bags upstairs the first time, and if you like your legs to get exercised. When in Rome, do what the (ancient) Romans do...?

If you have mobility problems, then this would not suit you. Many of these really old buildings can't accommodate elevators.

The no-extra-charge wireless internet is great. They also have SKY if you're into that sort of thing, for a small charge. I was impressed by the little touches - a chocolate on the pillow, and a cocktail glass containing more for future 'comfort'. Comfy bed, great shower and bathroom. View was pokey, but no worse than many views in densely built up places like NYC.

Great coffee shops around the corner. Wonderful stay. Would stay here again.

Stayed here for four nights (or three nights with one in the Navona Hotel, one floor below when the room in the LS was not available for the first night, the only glitch in the holiday) at this hotel and found it lived up to the publicity. The room was spacious and comfortable, bathroom pleasant and toiletries abundant. We never had to buy any sweets as they were copiously provided. Although we didn't need it there was a complimentary umbrella available.
The minibar was very reasonable with a third of a bottle of wine for 1.5 Euros.
Reception was charming and helpful.
Lots of restaurants close at hand although we went to Alla Rampa next to the Spanish Steps on two nights Antipasti out of this world and superb waiters.
Trastavere and the Jewish Ghetto worth a visit for peace and quiet in bustling Rome.
Our second time in Rome and just as good as the first time. Thanks Locanda Senatorum for a great stay.

I am sorry that it has taken me so long to write a review. Time has gone by so quickly.
I first want to say that the location is wonderful and so close to everything. Stepping into the small courtyard was like going back in time. I was a solo traveler and encountered no problems. I walked everywhere (day/evening) including the Vatican (3 times). Its an easy walk to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Colisseum.
Renata and Ravi were just great and very helpful.
I had the single room located to the side of the front desk and experienced not a single problem and it was just the right size for one person. It was very clean and modern.
When I return to Rome I will definitely stay there again.
The only thing is try not to take too many bags (unless you have somebody to carry them). You have to go up three flights of stairs.
If I can be of any help pls just let me know.

Booked this place because of the reviews here so I thought I had better add my own to help out others. First and foremost is the location. There cannot be a better in all of Rome. Most major sights are within easy walking distance (and what a city to walk around in!!!) and in the case of the Pantheon and P. Navona they are closer than that!!! Obviously it is not a luxury hotel and has little in the way of guest ameneties but the front desk are very helpful and anything you might need is readily available closeby. Be aware that there are several flights of stairs to negotiate if that might be a problem for you.The room was as big as you get in Rome (not huge) but it was spotless (well cleaned daily) and had all we required in the way of toiletries, telly, minibar etc.
As for Rome, it was fantastic - much more than we expected. Nobody ripped us off or robbed us, the taxis were great (the drivers mad as monkeys), the food was brilliant, the best coffee shop in the whole world is round the corner from the hotel, the clothes and shoes were good to look at but as I had not won the lottery for while looking was all I did. I would advise reading up either on the net or books on what places to avoid and how to make sure you get the right taxis and such like and thus make sure your stay was as pleasant as ours.
I will definately return to Rome and the only place I will be staying is the Locanda Senatorum.
