My Husband and I just returned from our first trip to Italy. We did some research and chose all of our hotels based on trip advisor reviews/location/pricepoint. The Locunda Senatorum was one of the better hotels we stayed in on our trip to Italy. We were there Sept 23-26 and Oct 6-7. 2007
The pros:
-unbeatable location. You step out the door and walk a block and you are at the Piazza Navona. Another block and you are at the pantheon. We walked to the Vatican, the colloseum.. everywhere!!!
-the hotel provided little touches that made our stay better. A pair of slippers, shampoos.. etc. After walking all day these little things came in handy.
-In comparison to other hotels we stayed in, the rooms were BIG!
-staff were very nice. We ordered a taxi through the hotel to pick us up from the airport and he ripped us off. Charged us 10 more euro than he should have. We complained and our return taxi fare was reduced. We would HIGHLY recommend arranging a taxi to/fro the airport. It isn't that close to the hotel and is a good investment to ensure you start and end your trip well.
CONS:
-NO STAIRS, the hotel is located on the 3rd floor. On a daily basis no problem but lugging your bags up and down took a toll on my husband.
-Overall fairly quiet, but our last night we didn't sleep at all because who ever lived the floor above us was up all night moving stuff around. For 150-200 euro, depending where you book, you should be able to sleep.
We'd go back again but wouldn't recommend it to those that can't do lots of stairs or lift things up stairs.
Ciao and happy travelling
