Before reserving you have to be aware that this b&b is really far out of the center of Rome. We thought it would be nice to stay in a real Roman neighborhood, but we under-estimated the time it takes to get there! First a metro, then a train (which runs only about once an hour at night and only until about 11pm), then you can either take a bus or walk for 15 mins, it's about one km. But by accident we took the wrong bus (but the same busnumber that took us from the b&b to the station in the morning) and we ended up far away from the b&b and no idea where we were...... 2 nights in a row we had to take taxi's (better to spend that money on a hotel in the center) and one evening we waited at Valle Aurelia station for one hour for the train to Monte Mario...

The rooms are nice enough, although the shower doesn't really have enough water pressure and the water ran everywhere on the floor. The people of the b&b were super friendly, but didn't speak a word of English, French or German, so we couldn't really communicate with them. Every night we had a fight with the keyhole also, difficult to open up the door. ;)

Nice place to stay and lived like a local, but a long way out from the attractions and due to this spent a lot of time travelling. When first arrived we spent a long time searching for the hotel. Owner shoud have infromed us that whne we arrived at the station to catch the right numered bus and ask the driver to put us off outside the hotel. Spent 2 hours trying to find the place. Only other complaint was the shower ran all over the floor, due to the shower curtain set up. The local restaurants were great and loved the local people.

Rome is well known for having heavy traffic, so heavy that motorcycles and Smart cars are the preferred means of transportation. If you are a traveller who likes returning home in the early evening, I would not recommend La Casa di Asa, as it is located on Monte Mario some kilometres away from the center.. and getting there by bus can be a great exercise of patience.
However, if you like spending the days until the night knocks in and waking up the next morning with no hurry, then this B&B can be a good choice.
We found out that, in those hours, the trip to and from the center didn't take too long (20 mins), the night buses in Roma work well enough and, in case they should fail, a taxi charges you only a bit more than 10 euros.

As you might expect from a place that's far from the center, the house is quiet and pleasant enough. The bed is comfortable. We found the host Elena to be a bit nervous (she reminded me of Stan from a famous pirate adventure videogame...), but apart from the lack of calmness she is kind and helpful.

Overall, a nice stay.

I am so so glad that we decided to stick to La Casa di Asa instead of somewhere closer to the center of Rome. It takes about 30 minutes to travel from the doorstep of La Casa to the closest metro station, but it's very very easy to do so.
The people there are lovely, the rooms are cleaned daily, there is air conditioning, the breakfasts are filling but very simple, it's just a really nice place to stay and not too expensive.
My father and I stayed for five nights and found it to be a wonderful oasis from the frenzy of Rome. The neighborhood is DELIGHTFUL, with several fabulous (CHEAP) pizzerias, a supermarket right near the train station (you have to take the suburban train into Rome), a lovely piazza, and a really cheap internet portal. there is also a fantastic little cafe that has the cheapest espresso I have had anywhere in Europe, and so delicious. I would thoroughly recommend this place for anyone who is staying in Rome for more than three days, just because it's nice to be able to leave the city behind and be around true Romans instead of just tourists. Basically, the rooms are fine, not fantastically great or anything but very clean and serviecable. It's the neighborhood that really makes La Casa di Asa worth the stay.

The one thing that we loved at La Casa Di Asa was the very helpful service. Nadia and Elena were extremely friendly and helpful in giving us specific directions to major sites in Rome and how to get around. As well, because Nadia speaks excellent English, we held valuable discussions about Rome, its political and social systems and learned many different words in Italian. We were able to use the Internet at no extra cost but only when Nadia was around (for us it was once everyday). The breakfasts were included which was very good considering that food in Italy is very expensive (although there was no variety and the coffee was not the best). The rooms were very small so was the shower (if you are a tall or large person, do not stay here). We learned, however that is the normal Italian room sizes (even the emperor had small rooms). The house is a lovely house and although it is quite far from the Termini station (the one you take to and from the airport), once you get used to the location, the major sites are not that far (but the distance can be a nuisance if you come back tired from a full day of sightseeing). We also went around Italy to Florence and to Venice. After seeing other places and staying at other hotels and bed&breakfasts, we came to appreciate La Casa di Asa even more for the wonderful service and comfortable stay in relation to other places and service. There is a place nearby where you can place phone calls to North America for about 8 cents a minute (ask Nadia for directions). There are three banks nearby as well, but the service at all three is horrible. We ended up going to Piazza Venezia to the National bank where we received better service. If you plan on going to Italy, make sure you learn at least the common words in Italian because they will not help you otherwise (even though they love to listen to American music, etc). Needless to say, despite the not so convenient location, despite the small room and shower, despite the same food at breakfast times, we came to appreciate La Casa Di Asa for its friendly and helpful service, especially after seeing how unfriendly and mean spirited Italians can be. Anyway, other tips that we learned about which you might find useful are: * Make sure you validate your bus/train ticket before getting on or you can be fined about 30 Euros per person if checked. * Call your museums/galleries/destinations directly for reservations or you can be charged up to triple the price if you go through a third party. * Bring some Euros with you until you can get to a bank or ATM machine in Rome. * Check out the menus at restaurants before sitting down because prices vary considerably from place to place and you don't want to feel ripped off (we paid huge $ for places that looked cheaper and reasonable $ for great food at other places that had an expensive look).
