We stayed at Domus Romana for 4 nights at the end of March and we enjoyed our stay there very much. The hotel is located at an excellent place in Rome since it is both quiet and central. We could go to piazza Venezia in 5 min by bus ,as the bus station is only 2-3 min. away from the hotel. In the busy area around there are restaurants and shops so we could walk to piazza Venezia (20-25 min.on foot) also very late in the night without any danger. The metro station is also only 5-7 min. away on foot. The rooms were nice, comfortable and renewed. The bathroom was comfortable as well and very clean. If I decided to go back to Rome ,I would definitely choose this hotel again.

We really liked the Domus Romana - once we found it. Walked straight past on the first time - not fun in 30 degrees. You might mistake it for the entrance for a side street, there is an archway and a sort of pebbled floor on the left hand side if you are walking in the direction from the train station. Look out for this and you'll be fine! Room was lovely and spacious and got lovely and cool after a long day of sightseeing. Thoroughly recommend the Da Ricci (Est Est Est) pizza place not far away which is a busy studenty place that does delicious pizza at bargain prices.

We felt the location was very good - central to lots of sights, only took about 10-5 minutes to get to most places. We only got the tube/bus to the catacombs just on the outskirts - which is well worth a visit. Just up the road is a tiny bar so you can stock up on water for the day - and for a beer or ice cream on your way back.

Lovely courtyard area was very pretty.

Good choice at breakfast - although it could get quite busy and things weren't always replenished very quickly - this was our only downpoint - we would definitely return.

Within easy walking distance of the train staiton, but without the noise of the railway, this hotel was an ideal location to explore the sights of Rome. Most places were within walking distance, for those that weren't the bus stop was a two minute walk.
TRhe hotel is located off of the main roads and set around a peaceful courtyard with it's own little fountain. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Whilst the rooms we had (3 couples) varied greatly , they were all very well equiped and beautifully spacious.
Domus Romana does not have a restaurant, but does have a breakfast room where full continental breakfast is provided. There are cafes and shops just across the road and plenty of restaurants nearby, so the lack of restaurant really was not an problem.
We'd recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable base to explore Rome.

This hotel is awsome, we stay in many hotels in the past trip to rome, but this one is beautiful. The hotel is located near the main avenues in Rome, a little door is the front door. A small reception, but the rooms are large, beautiful, big bathroom, a table to seat with two seat, hardwood floors in the room, beautiful decoration. The size of the room is very very large for Rome standards. The breakfast is large and in a room in the first floor where they have an internal patio that you see in the photos of the adversisment of the hotel . We try the Gioberti, not very good, old, very good breakfast, The Ariston, very tiny tiny europen size, you will have to carry your luggage around the satirs every room in the lobby has stairs. I recommend this hotel largelly. You will love it...

This was our third time in Rome (previously in 1980 and 1984) and enjoyed every single minute of it. The Domus Romana is a nice and very charming small hotel very well located even for us that are more than 60 years old. There are several small places to eat, have a beer or a glass of wine in the same street. Just around the corner there is the Via Nazionale, where you can find anything you want; shops, restaurants, a 24 hrs drug store and a small super market (all these within 1 minute walk).
If you walk 5 minutes you are in the Piazza della Repubblica, where you can take the Metro, and you can go from there to any where because one stop from that station there is the Plaza Termini where you can take all the buses and trains to any where within the city or elsewhere. There you can buy a one day pass, that you can use to take unlimited any bus or Metro for one day (4 Euros) or the three days for 11 Euros. Along the Via Nazionale you can take a bus to St. Peter´s Square or any where in the city (bus stop 2 minutes from the hotel).
The room that they assigned was clean, spacious, with a nice kitchenette, very beautifully decorated ceilings (wood work) but a little bit dark in spite of several lamps. There were some details in the bathroom like shower caps, shampoo and a nice pair of slippers.
The breakfast room was cozy, specially in February when Rome was very cold. The breakfast included coffee, juice, bread, croissants, meat, cheese, cereals, yogurt, pastries, cake, hot chocolate, in a nice, clean atmosphere. The two persons that are taking care of everything are very efficient and discrete. You can ask for expresso coffee and immediately you have it. In summary you can start your day very well fed and spend most of the day until lunch. There was a toaster for the bread and I mention it because some one who wrote a review says that there wasn´t.
They have internet in the lobby at a reasonable price and once I asked for a nice restaurant for my wife and myself and the reccomendation was good, although some how expensive. The cafeteria around the corner in Via Nazionale serves excellent spaghettis with shrimps (8 Euros) and a very nice meat with vegetables (14 Euros). There also you can have pizza, have a beer or wine. Drinks in Rome are 5 Euros every where (beer, soft drinks, wine).
In summary the hotel is very well located, transportation is readily available very close to the hotel and you can walk any where from the hotel. 15 minutes to the Fontana di Trevi and from there you can start your walked tour to all interesting places in Rome. You can go to Plaza della Repubblica and take the Metro for Piazza di Spagna. Walk 20 minutes to the Colosseum, 10 minutes to Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele and so you are right in the middle of everything.
I would reommend it to any one in my family and surely when we return to Rome, will stay in the Domus Romana.
