We stayed at this hotel for three days in June 08. We enjoyed that experience and the location was very nice. Far enough but not too much from the train station and one block away from the Opera.
Breakfast was good, various and fresh. Personnel very helpful and kind !
Room was huge and well decorated ! Bathroom was clean and huge too ! I was surprised because rooms in Europe are'nt usually not so big !
Would return for sure !

My husband and I were very happy with the accomodations and service at the Domus Romana. We were on the top floor and had a huge balcony, practically our own courtyard really. I wish the weather had been slightly warmer, we would have taken advantage of it.

The room had a separate sitting area with a small cooktop and fridge. The tv wouldn't give us any satelite at first but the front desk sent someone up very quickly to get that fixed. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice that it was a king size bed. I wasn't really expecting that. They had extra pillows and blankets in the closet if needed.

The bathroom was very clean and had everything we needed. The one glitch we had was the elevator. For one whole day it was out of service. Not so bad going down in the morning but after a full day of walking Rome it wasn't so great going up the stairs. When we got back and it still wasn't working we decided to just out to dinner first. it was a little early but treking up 6 flights of stairs twice just wasn't in the cards!

The location was fantastic. It was an easy walk to many sights and if the one you wanted to see was out of they way, the metro station was quite close. Two stations really.

The breakfast was fantastic! Great coffee and a very large assortment of breads, cereals, meats and cheese. When I got home I went on a search for a particular cheese we had there and came pretty close. Just a small reminder of such a great trip...

Lovely old monastery, carefully adapted to retain lots of original features, such as arched/beamed and/or decorated ceilings and thick walls.. Rooms were large, comfortable and very clean, as was our bathroom.
Rooms are set round a central courtyard, with a fountain. The breakfast room opens off this, and there are tables outside which are great for relaxing with a glass of wine. [Buy your own and store it in the minibar, as there isn't a bar in the hotel.]
There's a lounge on the second floor with a fantastic ceiling - we didn't use it, but may have done if the weather hadn't been so good.
Breakfast is a continental buffet, but with a good range of breads and pastries, ham and cheese, some cereals, fruits and juices
Staff at reception were very helpful and pleasant, and seemed fluent in a range of languages.
Much of Rome is walkable from here, but there are bus stops just round the corner, and a metro stop about 5 mins. walk away.
There's a wide choice of places to eat: we liked Restaurant Strega (Piazza Viminale, 5 mins walk), That's Amore (via Agostina de Pretis - 6 mins - good food but young waiter was a bit surly [or possibly v. shy]). Best of all was Rinaldi's (Via Parma. About 10 mins. walk, excellent food and service, a small glass of champagne on arrival and limoncella before you leave). But avoid the Trattoria Barberini (same street as hotel, 3 mins walk, but garish interior and very indifferent food).
We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Domus Romana again, but next time would get to grips with the air conditioning (we should have asked staff for help - it was effective but noisy) and not leave the windows open, as the streets around are busy and the Italian drivers like using the horn!. Shutting the windows cut out all the noise, and it would possibly be a good idea to ask for a room facing the courtyard rather than the street.
Enjoy your stay!

We spent 2 weeks in Italy with another couple and Rome was our third stop on the trip. The hotel itself is in a great location, in walking distance to everything (except the Vatican, you would need to take the bus- but its very easy). The people who worked at the front desk of the hotel were not always the friendliest and in turn, we didn't bother asking them anymore questions after about a day or two. Our room smelled everyday like someone went #2, it was gross. Our air conditioning didn't work, it was hot as hell in our room and our shower was literally a 3x3 box you couldn't even shower in. We asked to move rooms, and they were not able to do so, luckily we spent very little time in our room. The breakfast was ok, and the hotel itself was not bad looking, and the most important factor which is the location, was really great, but for a 4 star hotel, it was pretty disappointing. It's definitely more a 2.5 or 3 at the most.

Just came back from a 5 days visit to Rome. Me and my wife we loved the Domus Romana.( Via delle Quatro Fontane).
I can highly recommend this hotel to fellow travelers when visiting the eternal city. The Domus is a small hotel, means quiet, located in the city center, in walking distance from Trevi, Pantheon and even from the Colloseum, The staff is very friendly,, especially the girls at reception who gave very good tourist information about transport to sites outside historical center.
Rooms...I think there was not one room the same as the other!
our first one was quite small but, after asking, changed in a larger one, and...courtyard view. Good bed (!) bathroom complete, mini bar (fridge). Quiet at nigth. Room was in perfect condition and cleaning was also good. Breakfast was good, nothing hot but plenty other stuff, here also very quiet and peaceful.
Supermarket "De Spar" arround the corner in Via Nazionale (very good to buy drinks and food). Beware for restaurants in the quarter of Trevi and Pantheon, A BIG CHEAT !!! Check was never correct, they cut my chickenbrest in two peaces and said a had two ??!! This was the same in every establisment in this neighbourhood ! If you see no pricelist (and even then...) don't go there ! Reception recommended restaurant "Gioia Mia" Via degli Avignonesi 34, 500 m NNW from hotel, good food and no surprises with the bill. Thank you Domus Romana.
