My husband and I stayed at the Alimandi Vaticano from 11/9 to 11/16 and had a wonderful time. When we arrived at the airport, we called for the shuttle and it was there in 20 minutes. We were early so we left our luggage and walked around for an hour or so to buy a 7 day metro pass and to get our bearings. Our favorite things about the hotel were the delicious breakfasts, the size and cleaniness of the room, the heated towel rack, and the helpfulness of the front desk. Yes, you are a distance from sites other than the Vatican and St Peters. But, the metro was 5 minutes away, completely safe and easy to use. The 7 day pass costs 13 euros each and was well worth it. We went the 6 days without taking any cabs and only 1 bus. Though, a suggestion, walk as much as you can. You never know what you will find around the corner in Rome. We have already recommended this hotel to friends who will be visiting in the spring.
