i took my first trip to rome early December of 2008. A friend recommend Hotel Alimandi Vaticano. It was a great choice. The hotel is in a great location accross the street from the Vatican Museum and about 3 blocks from the train station. I was unsure in staying at alimandi becasue everyone was saying that it was pretty far from rome venus. I didn't think so. Maybe not walking distance but the train is pretty easy to use and runs fast. Most of the other venues are about 10 min away on the train. Germano and the front desk staff was great and well as the restaurant staff. During my next visit in rome i deffinetly would be staying at Alimandi.

What a nice hotel. We stayed there twice during our vacation and would stay there again. Germano, and the rest of the staff, gave easy walking directions to very nice and reasonable restaurants, and the entire staff always were trying to help us.

This hotel is family run and it shows. The rooms were always very clean, the breakfast was more than expected and varied each day, and the staff were always friendly.

The Hotel is directly across the street from the Vatican Museum and St. Peters.

We had several tours organized by the hotel, all were excellent. Our driver Gionfranco was an outstanding driver, even in Rome traffic.

I highly recommend this hotel if your stay in Rome has you going to St. Peters and the Vatican Museum.

Our visit to the Hotel Alimandi Vaticano was fabulous. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made our trip to Italy a very memorable experience. We were treated with personal attention and care. I encourage anyone traveling to Rome to stay with this family run business. The breakfast was a great way to start our day of walking and seeing the sites. With map in hand and instructions from Sarah or Germano we were on our way! Our rooms were exceptionally clean and quiet. I would request a room off the street. It is more quiet. We also stayed at hotels in Venice and Florence which were 5 stars and Hotel Alimandi Vaticano was the BEST!!

My wife and I booked our reservations on line (and re-confirmed with a phone call) for November 13-22 2008. There is not an insurmountable language barrier--but in fairness to all parties, it behooves the traveler to take some responsibility and double check to ensure that there are no misunderstandings, which is why we just double checked with a phone call to ensure that our reservations via the internet had indeed been made. This was our first trip to Italy and we were a bit apprehensive about not only booking on line but also what would await us when we arrived--as this was for a belated 25th wedding anniversary trip.

To say that we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement.

Blood is thicker than water---and it is obvious that this is a family run operation--which results in good quality control! I cannot emphasize how kind, considerate and thoughtful the staff at the front desk and in the kitchen (who served us breakfast each morning) were to us. The rooms were clean and housekeeping did an outstanding job in making sure things were neat as a pin when we returned from a day of sightseeing. We rec'd great recommendations for loal restaurants---when we got up the courage to be adventuresome and eat out some distance away, Germano not only called a cab for us to get to the restaurant but came out and gave the cab driver instructons on where to take us---this is truly outstanding service for which we were very grateful!

Francesca in the restaurant always welcomed us with a big smile and was especially helpful to my wife who has some special dietary needs (as were the kitchen staff behind the scenes). Maria and Eilena at the front desk were more than gracious and helpful.

The only downside--not the fault of the hotel--is that the front street is very busy and there is some noise if you have a room in the front of the hotel facing the wall of the Vatican---but one gets used to it. Just make sure that you cross streets in the cross walks to avoid being dive bombed by motor scooters (ie, no jay walking!!).

I have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel Almondi Vaticano to friends and colleagues---and I will certainly want to book reservations there when I return to Rome again. Certainly, the experience that we had is a primary reason for wanting to return to the eternal city for a second excursion!

Our best wishes and thanks to the staff at the hotel for making our stay and our anniversary celebration a memorable one!

This is a great hotel in an excellent location across the street from the Vatican Museum and within walking distance of most major attractions. The rooms are very quiet and immaculately clean. The front-desk staff is friendly and very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and things to do. Breakfast fare is outstanding with eggs and bacon (perfectly cooked), pastries, cheeses, cereals, fruits, yogurts and cappuccinos. The staff will provide gluten-free options upon request.

We stayed at this hotel in the Fall of 2006 and loved it then. At that time, the Alimandi Vaticano was one of the top-rated hotels on Trip Advisor. The hotel was just as good this time, and we will be sure to stay there again on our next trip to Rome. Based on our very positive experience, we do not understand why this excellent hotel has fallen in Trip Advisor's ratings. For us, this hotel remained an outstanding choice.
