thanks to everyone who recommended arco del lauro! b&b. my family of 4 adults and 1 infant had a wonderful time in rome because of its very cental location. the b and b is tucked away in a beautiful part of trastevere. it is very quiet.

the room is extremely spacious even though there were four beds. the first night we had five, so they added another bed for 10 euros. it is very clean and the bathroom is very modern and clean. i think itheir cleanliness is equal to a high level hotel. the only thing is if you have a lot of family members the hot water will run out quickly but maybe it is because we don't know how to conserve, being americans. anyway, we spent four nights there and we loved every day. we walked everywhere and the b&b felt like home away from home.

the first night we drove in from florence and got lost. i had expected to come in 830pm and we arrived closer to midnight. we were stuck about 10 minutes away and i called lorenza, the owner. she was so kind and offered to come to our location to guide us to her b and b. i couldn't figure out exactly where we were so i had to ask someone on the street to talk with her to get our coordinates! thank god for my sister in law's cell phone!

lorenza was so polite and friendly, just as if she saw an old friend. i think most people would be rude and cranky. she even tried to help me find parking and since she didn't see my mom asked to say good bye to her before leaving. my mom was really impressed by that!

i didn't realize but there is a night scene in trastevere but it is about 5 minute walking distance from the b &b. so if you are into clubs and bars, trastevere is good for that on the weekends and then when you are tired you can return to your lodging and find rest.

there is internet and snacks, too. they also change your towels every couple of days.

during the day time you will find daniela who mans the desk in their cosy lobby but for the most part, i didn't see too many folks going in and out. daniella was very nice also and they have many contact numbers in case you need help with anything.

the breakfast is also offered at a cafe around the block and it is very good. there gelato is amazing also! but it is 3 euros but i heard that the natural colored gelatoes are the real deal!

i highly recommend this place because if i returned to roma, i would return.

When you arrive at this B&B you are pleasantly surprised at what you find. This is a hidden treasure in the heart of all the activity. Has great access to transport, restaraunts, site seeing and of course shopping.
Daniella and Lorenza were extremely helpful with some of our needs, Lorenza also makes excellent Limoncello.
We would rebook this B&B if returning to Rome.

This accommodation had exceeded our expectations. Lorenza and Daniella were both delightful. They were very welcoming. Lorenza greeted us on our late Sunday evening arrival.
The rooms were very clean and quite modern. The refreshment area and free internet access were greatly appreciated. Of course Lorenza's limoncello was the best we have ever tasted.
The area of Trastevere is quiet during the day and busy at night with local Italians. There are many great little eateries outside the door.
We would recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to avoid busy central Rome. However, you can easily reach most sights on foot or by public transport.

We had only a couple of days in Rome at the end of a long tour of Tuscany. Lorenza made us feel at home immediately. She oriented us to the city and the best of what's close by. Our room was cozy and comfortable. The computer with internet available on-site was instrumental for us in planning and booking tickets around Rome. We were able to walk the entirety of the city without difficulty from here. And then at night, we always ended back in Trastavere to enjoy ourselves. If you're looking for a great place to call home while you're in Rome, Arco del Lauro is the one.

If you want to avoid a noisy, anonymous city-centre hotel, try the Arco del Lauro B&B in Trastevere (www.arcodellauro.it).

We stayed there for 4 nights at the beginning of May 2009. During the whole stay we only took one bus as all the main sights are reachable on foot.

The room was well furnished and comfortable and importantly, absolutely quiet at night. In the hall, there is a PC with Internet access, a small fridge containing juice, a selection of yoghurts and a bottle of Limoncello. There is also a kettle and the wherewithall to make tea or coffee. Just what you need after a day pounding the cobbles!

Lorenza and Daniela will look after you, giving you all the tips and tourist information you need.

Trastevere has all the restaurants you will need for a great evening meal.
