We stayed at the Adriatic a couple of years ago and so enjoyed our experience, we did not think of staying anywhere else on our return to Rome. The location is ideal - within walking distance of most places and near the 40 Busstop which takes you to the Terminus/Rail station. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Although this is a two star hotel, we have stayed in much worse three star hotels. The room we had was small this time unlike the large room we had last time but it was clean and had a pleasant view. A light above the sink in the bathroom did not work but this was sorted when we showed the chambermaid - she immediately summoned a workman - even though she did not speak any English and our Italian is virtually non-existent. The roof top terrace on the fourth floor is lovely. We found the room only accommodation really suited us - don't have to get up at any particular time to make it for breakfast and it is good to stop at a café and watch the world go by drinking a coffee or chocolate with a pastry. If - no - when - we return to Rome we shall definitely stay at the Adriatic again.

We booked two triple rooms for 6 people (including 4 teens). When we first booked, we were thinking of three things - air conditioning, location and value. We chose the Adriatic over a less expensive hotel, and found that an extra 10-15 Euros per night bought that air conditioning and terrific location at the Adriatic. We couldn't believe our luck (using Trip Advisor reviews) in finding a two-star so close to the Vatican, etc. Wow.

The hotel itself is okay. Clean, efficient staff, etc. There's a very nice rooftop area for fresh air - no drink service or anything, but very pleasant. The staff members are indifferent, but not intimidating. Our only negative encounter came when we asked a desk person where we could find the hop-on-hop-off bus and/or buy tickets for it. He simply said, "We don't work with them." I was surprised he didn't try to offer directions as a courtesy. But that was that. As it turns out, the buses (several companies) can be found outside St. Peter's, which is a short walk. Of all the hotels we stayed at in Europe - or anywhere - the Adriatic had very few brochures or maps that would be helpful to tourists. It wasn't a big deal to make our own way and find things on our own. We don't sweat that kind of thing, but I'll admit we were a little frustrated because we had very little time in Rome and didn't want to waste time searching. It all turned out okay though.

Otherwise, the experience was a good one and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again (and again) since the location can't be beat.

I've stayed here in November 2006 while my girlfriend was living in Rome. I was visiting her and caught a flight to Rome without any previous hotel booking. Hotels in Rome are extremely expensive, be aware. The cheaper ones are very difficult to find, all busy.
First time i was in Rome visiting my girlfriend i stayed at Cascina Palace, which is very far from the city and very bad!
This one (Adriatic) is a very good place to sleep in Rome, very central, and clean. Don't expect a luxury hotel, you won't find it here.
If you have small budget and want to something just to sleep in Rome, Adriatic is the right place for you, just near Vatican. I think i paid something like 30 euro per night, which is almost for free in Rome!

It is a typical European hotel. There is no breakfast, but there are plenty of places across the street. Great location and close to the major bus lines. Plenty of cheap places to eat just around the corner. The hotel was clean and staff very friendly.

we stayed for 4 nights in february 2008 and found the location of the hotel excellent, very near the vatican and easy access by bus.
The staff were all pleasant and very helpful.
The room and en suite was modern and cleaned daily.
Because of its location it can be noisy at night ,but I would still return again to this hotel .
There is no breakfast or drinks provided so my only suggestion would be take a travel kettle.
