After reading the reviews i was dreading coming to the hotel but all in all it wasn't as bad. the staff were excellent and the room was comfartable and cleaned everyday.
the hotel is situated miles away from the centre, although the metro is a bus ride away.
the problems is there is simply nothing to do in the evenings in that area, and is very boring. the restaurants that we did find in that area were poor. the breakfast in the hotel is poor, and dont be kidded into thinkin there is a gym, solarium, bar or restaurant cause there isnt!!
All in all rome is what you make of it, and if you just need a bed its ideal. be careful of taxi drivers (agree a price before hand) and also BEWARE the romans who will offer a picture and then try charging you (can be funny to watch though)
All in all Rome is culturally and historically superb and if you get a chance to tour with Dave (the new zealand tour guide) DO IT, HE IS FAB!!!!!!

well i booked this hotel for our anniversary and after reading the reviews, was really disapointed and tryed to change hotels.
we arrived aely in the moring and got a taxi from the airport to hotel, well that was a nerve jangler, DONT get in a taxi if your nervous !!!, they drive like idiots !!!, her charged us 30 euros, to get to hotel. booking in, the reception is very plain, and almost transport cafe style but receptionist was really nice and helpful, she sold us a transport ticket for 1 euro each which is good to go on bus and metro. room is very basic, but with mini bar, which to be honest is reasonable. walls a too thin, and we could hear another couple, who might i say were injoying rome a little too loudly !!! very uncomfortable.
rooms were keep clean, but traveling from hotel to rome center unless you know how to use the transport is a knightmare and is too far away for a sight seeing trip, as you spend too much time travelling. bus on main raod to anniania, then metro strat into terminni, simple when you know how !!. but overall hotel was ok. breakfast is cob and cheese, but coffe is fab, cappochino's but i would not book again, due to location.

We were there in December, over Christmas.
Overall it was a good experience.
It is true, that the hotel is not in Rome,
but the 507 bus takes you in ten minutes to the metro (underground) line A. Line A is impressively good looking line, compared with ugly line B. It also can take you to most sightseeing attractions (at least most of those we wanted to see).
The hotel itself is nice and safe. I liked top to bottom window.
Room was cleaned everyday, even on Christmas Day.
I wouldn't recommend to stay there on Christmas Day and try to see something (or someone) in Rome, because the transportation on this day is very limited.
The staff in the hotel is friendly.
The breakfast is not versatile at all, and it is nothing like continental breakfast in UK hotels, but coffee was really nice.
Fast Pizza Place near the hotel is convenient.

The Arcadia Hotel is a great value stay if you want to do Rome 'on the cheap'.
The rooms are clean and have a good level of equipment:
Sat TV, hair dryer, bath and shower / mixer, fridge etc.
The rooms are clean and the staff are very helpful.
The location of the hotel is quite a way out from central Rome, however, it is close to Ciampina Airport (2or3 miles) and close to the bus routes to Anangina metro station. The staff will give you a lift to Anangina Metro and a lift back to the hotel on your return. Otherwise, The 507 bus runs between Anangina and the hotel.
The hotel will also offer a lift to a local Italian resteraunt that they reccomend. Ignore this, and walk half a mile to the I Peperoncini located on Via Frascineto 67-69. This place offers great food with a great atmosphere. Lots of local families eat here which is allways a good sign.
Rome is a beautiful city but be prepared to be ripped off by taxi drivers, cafes and men dressed as roman soldiers (ten euros to have your photo taken with them)...but the Arcadia is at least one place where you will get value for money. We will return....

Airport taxis are a problem

We stayed at the Arcadia on our last night in Rome because we were catching the early morning Ryanair flight back to Stansted from Ciampino Airport.

The Arcadia is only a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport, yet it seems impossible to not be ripped off by taxi drivers. The hotel offers taxi vouchers for 30 euros which is extortionate for the short distance. Instead we asked to use the meter, hoping we could pay 15-20 euros. The taxi arrived 10 minutes before the specified pick-up time and sat there with the meter running. We began the journey with 13 euros already on the meter (they start running the meter when they leave the depot, and charge for waiting time). We put up a considerable protest but the driver would not reduce the amount.

The total price to the airport was 25 euros - a complete rip-off. I would not recommend using this hotel as an 'airport hotel' for Ciampino.

The hotel itself is of 2-3 star standard, good value for money, but it is in the middle of nowhere. The free shuttle service to a nearby restaurant is useful, and the lady on reception was helpful and friendly.
