My husband & I stayed for 3 nights in May and were given room 114 which is just off the reception area. We were worried about potential noise however it was doubled doored so it was very quiet. The room was very spacious by European standards and had what looked like the original painted ceiling and door frame. The room had a large double bed which was comfortable; a fridge; Flat Screen TV (all Italian channels); double glazing & Air conditioning (extra charge). The shower room was modern & spotlessly clean. The Room was made up daily. Staff were helpful and friendly. We were charged an extra 10 euros per night for aircon and breakfast for two which is less than the quoted price. Breakfast was very basic - tea/coffee, bread rolls, cakes and jam. It was fine though and there are plenty of places adjacent to the hotel to get food & drink. The hotel is in a very good location on a quiet side street but close to the metro (Republica) and the main Termini. It is also located in easy walking distance to many of the major sites. Bearing in mind how expensive accommodation is in Rome I think that it offers pretty good value for money. When checking out of the hotel we were told that their credit card machine was broken and that we had to pay in cash. This wasn't ideal as we had to run to the bank around the corner to withdraw the cash. It's not the Ritz, but if you would like a clean, comfortable and well located hotel in the centre of Rome then I would definitely recommend the Hotel Elide.
