This was the worst place to stay in Rome. Their website describes it as newly opened prestigious B&B ...rooms are furnished with style and elegance. Every detail has been carefully looked after. All rooms are equipped with private bath en suite with Jacuzzi, TV, A/C, mini bar, hair dry... Don't believe anything on the website.

Well the moment we got there we found the air conditioner was not working. The room had two fans in the corner to use. But in order to use the fans you had to unplug the only two lamps in the room. Since you had the leave the windows open you could hear all the noise and traffic from the street below. We couldn't sleep. The water in the bathroom came out in a trickle and the shower head was broken. The jacuzzi didn't work either. The next morning the toilet wouldn't flush and the toilet seat broke off. The TV was so tiny you couldn't watch it anyway. The management refused to fix the problems. We left the Atlante B&B to find a better place for our family. I would not recommend this hotel.

My husband & I stayed at the B&B and were very impresed with the size of the room, it was more like a little flat (appartment) of our own. The decoration was very charming as well as the building. The location could not be better...right there at the heart of the Vatican...gorgeous views from the hotel's restaurant!!!. There was a great selection of fruit, cereal, pastries, juices, drinks, cheese, salamies, etc for breakfast and the staff were wonderful. The only suggestion we have for the B&B is to please accept credit cards, because at the moment only cash is accepted.

Some tips if you're staying at this hotel (B&B):
-There are plenty of little restaurants around serving delicious food at very good prices.
-It is very easy to walk everywhere you need to go: Vatican city, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, Coloseum, etc. etc. Just get yourself a map and comfy shoes. -If you arrive at Fiumicino's airport after midnight, there is no train service to Rome's city centre and the coach takes ages. Your only option is a taxi, but be aware that the current official rate should be 40.00 euros (Sep/09) and not 70.00 euros as we were charged!!!. It only takes 20 mins from Fiumicino to the Vatican (with no traffic).
-If you need to go to the airport or train station on weekdays during the day, allow plenty of time as the traffic is really bad.

Stayed here as part of a whirlwind trip around Europe. It is a great location, you can literally see the walls of the Vatican city from outside. Rooms are tidy, clean, and a great price considering central Rome prices in general. Car parking was surprisingly easy to find as well. Some great cheap pizzerias on the backstreets between here and the more expensive central tourist district only 5 minutes away. Would definitely stay there again.

The façade of the building is under reconstruction at the moment and there is no metion of that on the site of the b&b! We couldn’t open the window because of the building slabs, so we had to turn on the lights even in the morning. I also could not help but thinking that someone could climb the slabs and enter the room from the window (although the slabs have the alarm system integrated), not to mention the noise workers make. We asked at the hotel to change the accommodation and they offered us to move to another bed&breakfast, which we didn’t accept. The bathroom wasn’t what you could call shining clean, although the room was cleaned every day. The bathroom door was sticky. What we have definitely liked was the breakfast – great view from the restaurant on the 6th floor! Anyway, I would not recommend La Maison Royale at the moment – it was a great disappointment for us after all the good reviews we read.
Rome was off course magical as always :)

  • Liked — The location, breakfast and the view from the restaurant of Atlante Star Hotel
  • Disliked — The reconstruction of the facade, the noise, the cleanness

Classy hotel with a B&B next door.

Stayed in the B&B in a 'quad' room for 2 adults, 2 children.
The room was well furnished, clean, with a fantastic bathroom (including hydro bath) and daily maid service.

The hotel staff were very accomodating, most of whom spoke fluent english.

The restaurant for our buffet breakfast was comfortable, with fantastic views over vatican city and offered a great choice of breakfast options. Even the kids were happy!

The hotel/B&B is located a couple of streets away from St Peters Basilisca (church) in vatican city.
It is also a handy location for the metro and many other sights.

I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!!!!
