We have just come from a short visit to Rome and loved the Hotel Villa Rosa. It was absolutely clean towels, sheets and all. The staff were very helpful and all spoke good english. Breakfast was good but could have been alittle more varied. But on the whole it was a good stay and we will surely return to it.

Stayed on two occasions this year at the villa rosa hotel. Each time I was very happy. The location is pretty convenient with the tram, several buses and the trastevere station 3 minutes away. The room are a little bit small but very clean, the AC is working fine. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is good. I would stay there again should I return to Roma. I think that is is great value for money.

This place is OK. The room we had was 2 single beds, and too small for them, we had to move them apart for actual sleeping. The shower would have been a squeeze for someone of more generous dimensions. The aircon was fine, and needed to be as our room overlooked Giancolense, where emergency vehicles seemed to be up and down a lot.......The reception staff were really helpful, and we thought the transport into the centre was good. Didn't try local restaurants though. The breakfasts were only ok. Fresh juice would seem to be too hard....

Having seen previous reviews of this hotel, I was fearing the worst. No need. The hotel is clean, bright, fresh and appealing. The staff were friendly and helpful and more than willing to point you in the right direction to good restaurants/public transport and off the beaten track places of interest. The breakfast was excellent and the waiting staff were willing to bring anything you required. The linen and towels are changed daily and the chambermaids were kind and friendly.

The rooms are quite small and, if you're at the front of the hotel, can be quite noisy. Just ask for a room at the back and you'll get one if it's available.

Would I stay there again? You bet!

This hotel is something of a mixed bag, but overall quite satisfactory and so long as the issues described below are not a problem for a particular guest, we'd recommend this hotel.

(We stayed here on 2 separate occasions in the space of a week.) Our first room was OK; bathroom was excellent. However, one of the 2 single matresses combined to make our double bed felt like it had been used as a chariot speed bump at Circus Maximus. Our second room was very nice, as was bathroom. Matresses were fine.

The staff were friendly and attentive and accommodated a couple of special requests we made. Very happy.

Of the 3 European hotels we stayed in, this one had by far the best breakfast.

On both occasions, we could not get the airconditioning to cool. It was heating or nothing. Reception told us that all the airconditioners in the hotel were set to the same setting and that a technician needed to come out to switch them over from winter to summer settings. This is a bit of a problem if the weather turns unseasonally warm, as happened in our case. Evening breezes provided substantial relief, except this let all the street noise (esp sirens!) in.

The location is great in terms of convenient access to the airport by train. Not only is Trastevere closer to the airport, but the hotel is walking distance to Trastevere station. Indeed, once we knew where the hotel was, we were, save for a testing street staircase, comfortably able to walk to the station carrying all our luggage. However, in terms of seeing the sights of Rome on the eastern side of the river, the location is poor. At a glance, the rail options look good on a map. But, in fact, getting to those sights by rail/metro, and especially returning in the evening, is at best very cumbersome and at worst a nightmare. From Termini, the H bus might even be a better bet outside of peak hour.
