Katja's should be kept a secret so I can go back anytime I like! The location is fantastic for the Vatican and buses also into Rome (Both 600m away).

Luca was the perfect host and gave us some good tips on restaurants to eat at. He also got up at 5.30a.m. to say goodbye and gave us sandwich's in leiu of breakfast for our train journey.

Room is small with double bunks, however, if you're into great locations, clean rooms and great host and need a room to just sleep in this is for you. Won't send the bank broke either.

Only question my stay raised was is Katja Luca's imaginery friend?

Strongly recommend this B & B.

My husband and I stayed at Katja's B&B from 06 to 08 July, for our first Wedding anniversary on the 7th, booking through Venere (highly recommended).

The B&B is situated in an excellent location, not far from the Vatican and is close to the other tourist sites you may want to visit during your stay.

We caught Terravision transfers from Ciampino Airport to the City Centre (10 E - bargain) and then hoppped on the number 64 to San Pietro. We got off a the Cavalleggeri San Pietro stop and started walking. It took us a while to find the B&B as we had got off the stop too early, but once we found it, we realised it was literally right opposite this bus stop!

The B&B itself was small, but beautiful in terms of decor. It was also clean, which is really important to us in a budget accommodation. Gianluca was very accommodating in the lead up to our stay and also very attentive when we arrived. He gave us juice and a slice of cake and the room was ready for us to check in straight away.

The room was small but adequate. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a closet and dressing table with a mirror, clean towels and toiletries. There was also a small electric fan which was definitely needed considering how hot it was whilst we were there!!!

Breakfast was brilliant!!! Lots to choose from, bread, jams, ham, eggs, salad, cereal, fruit, yogurts, cakes, juice, tea and coffee - plenty of food to keep you going!

We didn't see Katja during our stay but Gianluca was a brilliant host and we would not hesitate to reccommend this B&B or to stay here again when we return to Rome.

  • Liked — the location and hospitality - and the breakfast
  • Disliked — due to the weather, the room was very very hot, but there was a small electric fan

Katja´s Bed & Breakfast is a place I can´t recommend enough. Clean, comfortable and well-located. Gianluca, the owner, is more than helpful and makes his guests feel at home at all times. I found this place just perfect to get closer to the feel of genuine roman life, as it is in fact an apartment (beautifuly decorated, I must add) in a quite calm area of the city, though the Vatican is just up the street.
Room is small, but very comfortable. Bathroom is shared by the two only rooms and is always kept very clean, with soap, hair dryer and towels available.
Breakfast is copious! Tea, coffee, juice, bread, jam, butter, nutella, fruit and some fresh cold dishes of cheese, salami and vegetables. You can even skip lunch!
It is located right by the Vatican, reachable by several bus lines. It is a walkable distance from the tourist hot spots across the Tiber, and it feels great to start the day walking right through Saint Peter´s Square! There are some fine restaurants just around the corner. Trastevere, packed with bars and more restaurants, is just a few minutes by bus.
In short, a highly recommend place to stay!

My friend and I stayed at Katja's in May for two nights and loved it. Great location, with the Vatican, an internet cafe and a number of shops just 2 streets away. The price was very reasonable considering the location. We had most of our dealings with Gianluca, Katja's husband, who was very accomadating. In the dining room, they had a bookshelf with lots of Rome guides, which they let us borrow for the day. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was huge! Gianluca even gave us a loaf of bread so we could make up sandwiches from the remains of breakfast. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone going to Rome on a budget and wants to stay near the sights.

Katja is a Finnish artist & her Italian husband, Gianluca, is a sommelier. As hosts, they couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and accomodating - case in point: Katja was going to the store and asked if I'd like her to pick up a bottle of wine for me to keep in the refridgerator. I said yes, and would they like some cash now or would they prefer to just add it to my bill? The answer to all of the above was "No, no, no!"

The B & B is just a hop from the Vatican and a couple blocks from the St. Pietro train station & the very convenient #64 bus in a very safe & pleasant neighborhood. If coming from the station it is important to note that Katja's is on *Via* Della Stazione - not *Piazza* Della Stazione! From the station, cross the piazza to the other side of the bus terminus, turn left, walk 2 blocks, turn right. Katja's is in a yellow apartment building at the end of the block with it's front door on the corner.

There are only 2 small rooms rented out; 1 with a single bed and the other with a bunk bed. Katja has decorated the whole place with warmth & whimsy. My room - the single - had no closet; but a bar was cleverly attached to the wall that accomodated 4 or so hanging garments; and there was a large chest of drawers (with fresh flowers on top!). Although not private, the bathroom is immaculate and shared with only 2 others max at any given time. The only negative I could find during my stay was that the shower head is fixed & directly overhead - so there is no such thing as showering *without* washing one's hair! The breakfast room is a delight; and the breakfast (a choice of sweet or savory) is fresh, plentiful and attractively presented. Gianluca likes to serve in shifts in order to provide privacy in dining. Speaking of food - my hosts recommended Trattoria La Vittoria. Get there early! It's reasonably priced, delicious and the staff are friendly and amusing.

It was a delightful stay. I can't wait to return!
