We booked this accommodation after reading a (somewhat) misleading article in a Sunday newspaper which implied that it is within easy walking distance of the centre of Rome. It is not! However, this is not a problem as buses are cheap, frequent and stop right outside the main gate. The journey to the city centre takes about 20 mins. We thought that it was actually quite nice to escape to somewhere quiet after a day's sightseeing. The guesthouse is run by nuns who are very friendly but do not speak much English. It is spotlessly clean, simply furnished and has a lovely garden at the rear. The rooms all have en suite facilities and are centrally heated. Breakfast is a bit spartan but adequate. I booked this accommodation using the booking form on the hotel's website, www.villamontemario.com. I was asked to send a deposit by bank transfer and the bank charges were as much as the deposit! If I stayed again (and I certainly would if I return to Rome) I would ask instead if I could leave my credit card number to confirm the booking. I would recommend this guesthouse to anybody who is looking for reasonably priced accommodation away from the noise of the city centre.
