We stayed at the Residenza Monte Mario for a week while visiting our daughter who was studying in Rome for five weeks. Overall we enjoyed our week at Residenza Monte Mario.
On the plus side:
-the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and spoke English (obviously some better than others), but language was never a problem. The staff promptly responded to our requests. We asked them to arrange a taxi for our return trip to the airport. They did this with no difficulty, and also arranged a set price which was quite a bit less than the cost of our arrival taxi from the airport to the hotel.
-the room price included breakfast which was very good, nothing too fancy, but always plenty to eat and a server on duty to provide whatever we needed.
-the staff kept the room and (private) bathroom clean, with plenty of towels and accessories.
-the Residenza is conveniently located on a quiet street, with a walk to the bus stop of less than ten minutes.
-there is a restaurant on site, but we did not dine there. We did stop by the bar each evening prior to venturing out for dinner. The bartender was friendly, the drinks and snacks were excellent, and the beer was cold.
-the room was neat, but nothing fancy. I understand that previously this property was a monastery, and it showed. One part of the hotel (not used by guests during our stay) was being renovated.
-the view out of our window was great, looking towards Rome and Vatican City. The rooms on the other side did not have any scenic view, but there was a line of trees obscuring nearby homes.
-we felt the price was reasonable.
The minuses were very few:
-the hotel is air conditioned, but it was not on 24 hours a day. It tended to be on late afternoon until about 10:00 or 11:00 PM. This is when it is most needed, and sleeping was not a problem. However, guests do not control the ON/OFF times; that is controlled by the management of the Residenza.
-the rooms are not fancy, two beds, a desk, and a place to hang clothes. Very practical.
We would definitely stay here again.
