We are four persons who have just returned from the Vatican area of Rome. We stayed at the Scalise bed and breakfast. This property is NOT for North Americans. It is extremely spartan. The bed is as hard as a rock and the noise from a major street outside the window is extremely loud. We kept the light and fan on in the washroom all night trying to drown out the sound of traffic and the wail of sirens. The breakfast consisted of stale rolls, coffee some cheese (not much) toast made in a frying pan (no toaster) and jam. I have travelled in Europe before but this b and b was the poorest yet,. The only plus was the location. It is walkable to the Vatican and the Museum, and the subway is just outside the door.
