One of the worst hotel. May be good for single person as a couple cannot move in the room. The aircon never work and the sensor light remain on and off throughout the night so middle of night you feel someone is in your room. Lift is so fast that a pregnant woman can deliver the kid once she start journey from 6th floor to ground floor. Breakfast is hopeless and except the young man at reception all others are so rude that they dont feel to talk with you. The plus point is near to bus stops from where you can get bus to go most of the attractions. I dont recommend to anyone

The hotel was a little too far out from St Peter's so I would suggest a hotel a little more central

I'll start with the most memorable part. In a rush to get to the train station and catch my train to Venice, I left my iPod in the room. I was without a phone for a few days, but called the hotel when I got back home to see if they had found it. Not only had they found it, but they had kept it in a safe waiting for my call.

I was working with Jacob and he provided service that I simply would not expect from a 2-star hotel. After a few mishaps on my part getting a courier to pick it up, he continued to give me regular updates and finally we were able to get it delivered safely to me.

Regarding the hotel itself, it's clean, comfortable, and everything you can ask for at a 2-star rating and rate. Maid service is punctual and thorough. The building is actually comprised of a number of mini-hotels, so it may be a little confusing to find the correct room at first, but it's not much of an inconvenience. As other reviews have noted, the elevator (there is only one) is a little feisty at times and the lights will go out, but it's certainly not a big deal. The breakfast is simple, but good. It's only a 10min walk from the Central Train station, but you do have to go around one large building so it's not exactly a straight shot there.

All in all, great value and experience.

First, I'm not one to complain unless its really warranted. Please read my other posts to confirm this, including four other hotels we stayed at on this Italy trip (to be posted shortly).
Bottom line, due to electrical problems throughout our stay, we cut our 4 day stay at GFshort, leaving after one night(mare), and moved elsewhere. The electricity went out every 15-20 minutes, shutting down the (much needed) AC, and leaving whoever had the misfortune of showering at that moment, in the dark. Each time this happened we had to call the fron desk to get it turned on, be asked (again if we had connected any electrical devices that could have tripped it (we didn't, but the mere question means this isn't a one-time thing), and when they turned it back on, we could turn on the AC. This continued through the night, instead of sleeping off our first evening in Rome.
After the meager breakfast (not necessarily disappointing, as we're aware this is a budget hotel), and after a pre-booked visit to the Gallery Borghese, we scoped out a few hotels on the way back, found one we liked, and graciously asked to check out of GF. They insisted that since the deadline to cancel the second night had passed, we must pay for two nights. We contended that the conditions of the first night would have warranted a refund for that as well, no less the second night we wouldn't be there at all and the room would be available for hire.
Just as FYI, the light in that rickety elevator didn't work at all (that thing is scary enough WITH light!), the TV & Remote in our room seemed not to get along, and we experienced the usual erratic hot-cold water flow in the shower. Otherwise, I frankly wouldn't dispute the moderately positive feedback of other posters. Location, proximity to Termini & Republica, and the service/demeanor of the staff was good. Breakfast was minimally acceptable (compared to the other 4 Italy hotels we stayed at, and the one we moved to in Rome - Hotel Embassy, right down the block from GF). Sometimes things just don't work out.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel for 1) not accommodating and refunding due to lack of acceptable conditions, and 2) unless I knew the electrical problem was fixed. It wasn't just our room, we were with another couple who roomed on the 5th floor and had the same problem.

We stayed at this hotel one night because it was close to Termini and we had an early trip to the airport the following day. The interior of the room was fine, but common areas were a little creepy. The entrance to the hotel almost felt unsafe at first. The reception area was dingy and dated, the elevator is extremely dirty and the lights automatically shut off when we were inside. The breakfast was probably edible but I chose not to eat because everything looked pretty packaged/processed and that's what I want to feed my body when I'm traveling in a fabulous European city.

Overall, this met our needs as far as convenience, budget, and other functional aspects were concerned, but I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're looking for a charming, memorable place to wake up in Rome.
