We stayed two persons from Denmark(late fourties) at Giotto Flavia for four days in october. The room was nice and clean, in traditional italian style. The shower was rather small (could need to be replaced)- not suitable for xx-large people. Not so much traffic noise in the area. Breakfast reasonable: coffee, tea etc., bread, youghurt. Friendly staff. Situated near Villa Borghese, Spanish steps, Via Veneto but in a not so crowded neighbourhood. Be sure to visit the local restaurant :Lampada in the nearest side-street to Via Flavia. Food (including sea-food)is excellent at very reasonable prices and the staff (and chef)very friendly and hospitable. You have to be there at 7 pm sharp or you´ll have to wait til 9.30 pm, ´course its often booked full.
All in all Giotto Flavia was a good choice for us. We prefer to use money for good food rather than hotel luxury and got good value for our money at Giotto Flavia.

The hotel was a good value for the price i paid on hotels very clean, the staff was really friendly and warm. They were very helpful, we had a great 6 days stay at Flavia. It is in walking distance from the train station. If you take a taxi it should be no more then 3 to 5 euro NO MORE THEN 5. (unoffical taxis will try and rip you off and ask for 20 to 35 euro from the train station so watch out.) The stairs and elevator should not be a worry because the staff and hotel are great and more then make up for the lil walk up. All and All i would say it is a great value. They made our stay in roma very comfortable. The is a lil bar about 3 shop down from the hotel called "The Music Bar" it is pretty good and they have great fresh orange juice. Also the side street farthest from the hotel right after the music bar has a bakery, and there is a place to get cheap pizza which is really really good it is like 2 euro. The front desk has coupons for the music bar just ask.

We stayed at this Hotel the nights of June 14 & 15, The only good thing about our stay was that it was only for two nights. We checked into another hotel for the last 3 nights of our vacation. We booked this hotel through hotels.com, it was not at all what we expected. It was very dark, couldn't see even with all the lights on, the air-conditioning was actually a ceiling fan. The bathroom was very small and the shower stall is an accident waiting to happen.

We usually choose hotels which are small and don't have too many rooms and most the time we get lucky but sometimes.......Hotel Giotto Flavia is a 2 star hotel located 1/4 mile from most major attractions in Rome which was not bad at all. This hotel is on the second floor of a 4 story building (each floor is another hotel) The entrance hall is not attractive at all (I almost changed my mind about staying there when i saw it) and you have to take a rickety elevator up to the second floor, which was out of order at least once a day. The staff was very nice. We arrived 5 hours before check-in and they checked us in anyway and on the day we left they kept our baggage for several hours. The rooms was a decent size but the lighting was horrible...very dim, especially since the only window in the room faced a small open courtyard in the middle of the building, so there was no sunshine and not much light. The room and linens were very clean, however, the bathroom was very small and only had a shower, which you had to step up 12 inches to get in to...there was some mildew in the grout, which grossed me out a bit, but i managed since we were there only 2 nights. The breakfast that was included was ok...good coffee and choices from one of the those automatic machines where you press the button for expresso, cafe latte, hot chocolate, etc... There was some cereal, rolls, cheese, ham and yogurt and some sweet buns. It was a small dining room but very clean. I would only recommend this hotel to someone who was really traveling on a budget...it cost about 150 euros, which is very, very inexpensive for a decent location in Rome. OH...VERY IMPORTANT....HOTELS IN ROME ARE NOT PERMITTED BY LAW TO HAVE IRONS SO THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE.

We had booked to stay at Giotto Flavia because of the low price. However, when we arrived, there was some construction going on so the hotel kindly relocated us to another hotel across the street. Thus, though we did not stay in the hotel, I did have a chance to see the facilities and interact with the staff. The hotel is situated in the 3rd floor of an old building. Though you enter through an old lobby, the actual hotel lobby is very clean. It is very small, and there are no bells or whistles. Just a small reception area and several rooms. The area was very clean, as were the rooms inside. Given the price of this hotel, I would recommend it for students or other low-budget travellers. It is in an area that is about a 15 min walk to the spanish steps. We felt very safe in the area and there were several restaurants and cafes nereby. Overall a good value for someone looking for a step above hostel accomodation.
