I booked this hotel thru Venere. Unfortunately we planned a trip to Rome sort of last minute & every place we wanted was booked. The price was 88 Euros a night & you get what you pay for. If you're just looking for a cheap place, you could do worse.

We stayed in room 10, on the 5th floor (no elevator). When you've been out walking all day, how much do you want to walk up 4 flights of stairs?

The room was tiny. I've been in my fair share of cheap european hotels, this was the smallest room yet.

The shower & bathroom worked fine, although there was just a curtain separating the shower area from the rest of the room.

The gal that worked the front desk during the day was nice enough, but the other people at different times weren't quite as accomodating & didn't speak English as well.

The bed was as hard as a rock. no extra blankets or pillows to be found. One really slim closet with no drawers or shelves. No hangers.

Breakfast is served at a bar nearby. Although the one day we got up early enough to make it there, the bar was closed so they gave us a few Euros to get breakfast elsewhere.

It is nearest the Vittorio Emanuelle metro stop. Bus 110 stops just at the end of the street. There is a grocery store around the corner that was even open on Sundays. This part of town seemed to have a little Asian enclave. A lot of Asian clothing shops & whatnot.

The picture of the outside of the hotel on this site did not look like the otuside of the hotel. I was a bit confused when we pulled up.

Quite a disapointment. Not sure where the room pictures on their site come from, there is nothing charming about this hotel! Our room on the thrid floor (no lift, no help with the luggage) was barely clean enough to sleep in and, there was mold in the shower. We only stayed because of the price and the difficulty of finding other accomodations on such sort notice. As far as the Breakfast part of B&B, you get a voucher and walk two blocks (we called it the 'left-left-right' as those are the instructions) for a cup of coffee and a roll. The people were nice enough but there was never the same person on the desk two days in a row and no one spoke more than a word or two of English, or wanted to go out of their way to assist with things like clean towels or toilet paper. If you are a back-packer and want to save a few bucks, give it a try. If you are used to more, stay somewhere else!

This place is disgusting, stay somewhere else if you possibly can the expense will be worth it.
I stayed here last week over New Years. The hotel is located in Via Bixio in the scummy area Behind Termini station. We arrived at the 'hotel' to be told by the receptionist that she didn't know what 'ensuite' is SO we were allocated to our room where we had to SHARE the most appalling bathroom with the people in the next room. The shower cubicle had MOULD everywhere (ugggh it's making me itch just thinking about it) there is also a bath which had tide marks in it and a toilet which i had to clean BEFORE i used it. It is really gross! The room itself was tiny and smelt like a dirty old mop, i opened the window as soon as i got into the room and sprayed deodorant around. We spent as much time away from the hotel as possible on purpose because it was so awful.

This is the worst place i have ever stayed in.
Eeeuughhh!

My husband and I had planned to stay two or possibly even three nights at FamilyHouse, but only ended up staying one (and wouldn't even have done that if it weren't for the late hour). Our room was adequate, certainly not what the picture showed, but okay. The room was basic (as we expected) and visually pretty clean, but for whatever reason, it still felt kind of dirty. Our room had an air conditioner in it, but we could not find the remote control for it, so we asked at the desk on our way out. The lady told us that she would find it and have it for us when we returned that evening. The temperature outside was warm (maybe 80F), but we were not able to get much of a breeze with the window open, so we would have liked to use the air overnight to help us sleep. When we returned, they lady at the reception was not there and the night clerk not helpful at all. The first thing he did was make a snide comment (in English) about me asking him (in Italian) if be spoke English, something to the effect that in Italy, a person speaks Italian and if he visited the US, he'd have to speak English. Now, I appreciate that Italian is the language of the land, but I can't change the fact that the US is, for the most part, an monolingual country, nor can I change the fact that my high school (or college for that matter) didn't offer Italian language classes. I don't speak fluent Italian, but during my visit I made an attempt to use Italian pleasantries as much as possible. And let's not forget that the name of the b&b is in English! Or that they have an Enlish website! Or even that I had conversed via email with the b&b in English! This clerk made me rethink my desire to visit his country, to learn about and experience some of its culture and, might I add, contribute my hard earned money to it's leading industry - tourism. And when we asked about the control for the air conditioning, he told us that we didn't need it because it wasn't hot enough. After being treated like this, we decided to leave as early as possible the next morning. It's just as well that we decided to leave early, as neither of us slept well on the super firm mattress. I would not recomment Family House to anyone.
