Stayed here for two nights on business. I guess it's meant to be trendy but it doesn't quite manage to pull it off. On the plus side it's not too far from the airport. On the minus side if you are here to see the sites you are a long way from them and I didn't spot a place to eat nearby although there is a large supermarket a short walk away.

Oh... and as the name suggests, black is the theme of day here so not a good choice if you like bright and breezy, to spot your colleagues in the bar or (as I witnessed one guest) descend the stairs without falling....

We found the staff at Black Hotel to be helpful and accommodating to our requests. Certainly the hotel is clean and the room comfortable. We ate breakfast each morning as well as one dinner at the restaurant and had nothing to complain about.

While interesting and stylish, the very modern design of the hotel lacks warmth. In the evening, the lobby lighting is very subdued, perhaps it is too dark, and therefore is not particularly welcoming.

As others have noted, the hotel is situated somewhat out of the city, and is not conveniently located near public transportation. We experienced the same difficulty in getting to and from the hotel by bus, and strongly recommend that you plan to take a taxi into and out of the city. Since the hotel was not known by three of the taxi drivers we used, we told them to take us to the Jolly 'Meedas' as a previous poster had suggested, which worked like a charm!

If you want Rude Check in Staff, that say they don't understand and then mumble under their breath, rude obscenitys, this is the hotel for you. It is about a 30 Euro taxi ride to the heart of Rome. The pool is not open until 10am in the morning, and then closes at 7pm. At night there are street workers at the supermarket store close by and also pick pocketers. This would have to be one of the most modern hotels i have stayed at. The rooms are nice, not sure about space to put clothing away though. Just dont expect the check in staff to be friendly. I continually had the check in Blond lady, play on the computer and had me waiting for about 10mins (this was done to all guests) . When she was done, she made people feel terrible for interrupting, and then said that she did not understand english. I am italian and i can tell you she definately understood and made fun of people who did not understand. I will never stay at the this hotel, as it would have the rudest check in staff and very unhelpful. If there are 2 of you, they will make the 2nd person pay an extra 30 Euro per night, so please be careful when checking rates.

it is an issue the fact that its so far away from the center
walk + bus + metro to the center is a bit of a bummer and taxi every day can be expensive.
the service is not as good as it could be and neither is the breakfast (you would expect more from this kind of place) apart from that the hotel is cool (and a bit dark, some call it modern). The swimming pool was great after a tourist day round rome, but forget about the meals there, they are not up for it.
The bed is confy and the bathroom is well equiped. I don't like the fact that the light comes in the room in the morning, but most hotels are like that...
