Our plans to stay with family in Rome fell through at the last minute. The kind owners of the B&B we stayed at in Florence called ahead and booked our stay only a few days before we arrived in Rome. Booking on such short notice, I was worried about what we would get, but I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean, we had a/c, our own bathroom and the room had private access to a rooftop patio with table and chairs! Not bad for 48 hours notice!
The walk to the Termini was not bad at all, it was easy to get back and forth with some places to stop for breakfast in the morning or for a snack in the afternoon when we got back from sight-seeing. For dinner, we ate once at the place directly next door. I'm not sure if it was because they could tell we were tourists, but they added all kinds of items to our bill that we had not ordered. I pointed it out (in Italian) and our waiter said he would take those items off the bill, but he never did. We just refused to pay for those items, paid the rest of the bill and left. There were some good places in the area, so try as many out as possible.
The staff at the hotel were great. There was one man in particular who seemed to be at the front desk for the duration of our stay. He was very nice and was able to suggest places to eat, things to see. And he went out of his way making sure I had a cab to take me to the airport when I left.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it. It's in a charming building and I loved the old fashioned lift.

Ok, in the interest of full disclosure, I didn't actually stay here. And it may be a perfectly nice hotel, but I just had such a bad experience with them over the phone that I know I will never grace them with my presence.

Long story short: I needed some information from the front desk, the "gentleman" on the front desk informed me that he was too busy with a group at the desk and then ... he... hung up. In a word, it was rude. And I have a high tolerance for rudeness. But this was truly rude.

And so here's my thought process: if you employ someone at your hotel who thinks this is an appropriate manner in which to address a person, I can't imagine I would enjoy myself staying at your hotel, and I don't want to give my custom. Simple as that. Nice = make money. Not nice = lose money.

I don't think asking for a little civility is too much. Especially in the *hospitality* industry. But maybe that's just me.

I stayed with my family for three nights at this hotel. In the building, the Castefidardo hotel owns the third floor and another hotel, Lazzari, the second. The hotel is renovated, new furniture, clean bathroom, all that on 1 star hotel. The room was great, right across the front desk. Not very big, but ok, windows above the main street which was noisy but the windows were soundproofing. The TV was small and had just Italian channels. The bathroom was very clean, so was the room. Everything is new. The man at the front desk was an old funny man, he was helpful. The hotel has no internet, but there are some cheap internet points nearby. A quite big supermarket at 1 minute walking distance. Many restaurants around, but not all of them so good. watch out in Italy for coperto&services, they are both tips put on the receipt. Rome is a big city, that's wy for the colloseum and the roman forum you must use the public transport, but the hotel is close to the termini railway station, where you can find metro and bus stations. The hotel is close to the Trevi fountain and the spanish steps, also Piazza della Republica. A very nice hotel!

It was walking distance to Termini station (10 mins). Since I bought the travel day pass, I took bus to the hotel (one stop from Termini). It would be better to ask people where the hotel located because the hotel was on the third floor of a building. No big sign of the hotel. Castelfidardo shared the same building with hotel Lazzari. We booked for Castelfidardo but we stayed in hotel Lazzari (5th floor). As the lift was old type, we climbed from first floor to third floor because the last user didnt close the door. Breakfast was not good. One guest was only entitle for one bread/croissont and one drink at nearby cafe by presenting the breakfast voucher.

The hotel is very easy to find. From the airport their is a shuttle bus for 6 euros to the termini. From the termini follow map on hotel website and it's a five minute walk. The hotel is clean but basic but what really do you need?WC, shower etc, maid service everyday it was fine. You are hardly in your room as there is so much to see and do. We never tried the breakfast as we were not sure which bar the hotel owned?! There is a supermarket around the corner we bought fruit, pastries and water from there. (cheap) There is a very nice and reasonable restaurant down the street before the supermarket. It was packed out everynight and the staff are very friendly.
I would not recommend this hotel to women if on their own or in a small group. At night you do not feel safe walking the streets in this area. I was ok as i was with a man but even then i did not take out a bag on a night.

  • Liked — it was clean, the location was good 15min walk to main sights.
