“Excellent Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

I stayed at Hotel Saturnia for two days in July and wished I could stay longer (I actually tried to cancel my other bookings to stay here!)

Location - very close to the termini station and colosseum (walking distance)
Friendliness of the staff - I met four of their staff and ALL were very helpful especially Lily :)
Room - decent sized, (I stayed at a double room with shared bathroom) and the bathroom is extremely clean.
Breakfast - basic but delicious- fruits, bread, cereal, coffee and milk

Overall, it was very pleasant experience and I would definitely stay here when come back to Rome!

Room Tip: No elevators so if you have heavy luggage, you should ask for lower floors.

The stay at this hotel gave us everything we needed. They were clean and spacious, very cool as we went during a massive heatwave. If you want to stay by the Colosseum then this is the right place for you as it is in walking distance from it. The long road that this hotel comes off is perfect if you want to pop out for an evening meal, the restaurant on the corner is beautiful. Also plenty of shops along the road for souvenirs etc. At the top of the hill there is a bus station where you can board the tourist buses which take you everywhere if you don't feel like walking. It is quite a walk from places like the spanish steps and trevi fountain but that for us was one of the perks - we got to see a lot more of Rome this way. The hotel staff were very helpful and polite. The stay was just wonderful - it is basic but we spent all day walking round and all we needed was a place to crash and this did the job just great.

Me and my partner stayed at Hotel Saturnia in July of 2013 for 4 nights.

Firstly, the staff were wonderful. They were extremely helpful and eager to help with anything. The general area of the hotel was very attractive with beautiful paintings and overall vibe. The hotel is also in a great location, walking distance to some great restaurants and the colosseum.

However, we found the breakfast very average. It comprised of some juice (more like cordial) and some baked goods that actually tasted quite bad and flavorless. The room was very small and we could barely move around the room (which wasn't a huge problem for us). The room smelt awful, it smelt like the sewerage pipe in the bathroom had exploded, closing the bathroom door was all we could do but it didn't help too much. Also the internet on our floor was "temporarily" broken, so we had to sit down stairs to use the internet. There was also no elevator so i would request a room on the first or second floor. Additionally the air-conditioner was the worst thing ever. I'm not convinced that it worked at all. After a extremely hot day in the sun you just wanted to come back to a cool room but the room was just as hot as outside even with the "air con" on full power.

This hotel was a wonderful place to stay - I would quite happily stay there again. The rooms are small, but most in Rome are, and the staff at the hotel more than made up for the small room. I used this as mainly a place to crash at night, while being out and about all day, every day so it fulfilled its purpose. Everything was clean and tidy, and the location was great. A 5-10 minute walk to the nearest metro, which also happens to be the main station so all metro lines are accessible from here. The staff directed me to some lovely local restaurants which were much better priced than those in the tourist areas, as well as providing a much higher standard of food. Would happily recommend!

We stayed here in April 2013 and it was a good value. I wouldn't consider this a remarkable hotel, but it was good value for the price. We looked around at other options nearby, and they all seem either more expensive or more grungy. This is a clean hotel and we slept fine.

We stayed for three nights in a double room on the third floor. True, there is no lift, but as we were only carrying backpacks this wasn't a deal breaker. The room was clean and had a cozy en suite bathroom (including a bidet!). The windows blocked the sound fairly well, though the hotel is right off Via Cavour, a main thoroughfare that had traffic throughout the night. The sleep quality isn't great for a light sleeper, as you can also easily hear your neighbors through the walls and in the hallway without much effort. The noise of the AC helps offset this a bit.

The location is wonderful: close to Termini, the Colloseum, and if you enjoy exploring a city on foot, this can easily be accomplished allowing all major attractions on the free Roma map the hotel provides to be visited.

The staff were friendly, the breakfast wasn't phenomenal, but enough to get the day going. Coffee from machine not tasty, but if you're lucky the person behind the counter will make you a fresh espresso.

The hotel was very dissimilar from how it appears here. The reception area was okay and the receptionist was welcoming, but the hallway, room, and bathroom left much to be desired. The hallway was dingy. Note: there is no elevator and no one offered to bring our bags upstairs. The room was also dingy, the bed was awful (lumpy and hard), and it felt much more like a hostel than a hotel. Had I been paying a hostel rate, I would not be grumpy, but because I paid about $90 for the one night I stayed, I was expecting a bit more. The toilet was a shared toilet (I think shared among the entire floor), and the flush did not work. In the room there was a sink, shower, and bidet, which we found a bit strange. The breakfast was average and there was not much to choose from. Overall, I was very glad to only be staying there for one night.
