Location:
This hotel is ideal for those who wish to stay close to Via Veneto at a reasonable price. Rome being the almost-village that it is, one can easily walk between all parts. Thus, location-wise, my personal preference after many stays in this enchanting city is for the more bustling neighborhoods. But if a quieter and more upscale area is what you prefer, then the hotel location is ideal. I found public transportation options in this area poor compared to staying in a number of other locations, and especially the Termini area, where easy connections to any spot in Rome and vicinity are possible, especially later in the evening. After a certain hour, public transport to the hotel is definitely not easy. The taxi stand is around the corner and convenient.
Rooms:
The rooms are spotless and cleaned well daily. They are very basic, with relatively comfortable beds, clean linens and sound-proof windows. Although you can hear guests in the hallway, you can’t hear any street noise at all. The bathroom we had was a very good size, but the shower stall and sink are of the miniature variety found throughout Italy which larger size guests may find a bit inconvenient. Water pressure was OK, but hot water availability was variable.
Our TV did not work, it has multiple broken images, but we didn’t really want to bother them about it as we did not need it. If we had mentioned it, I am sure it would have been replaced or fixed.
Internet: A huge bonus is the great free internet service! Super-fast and efficient, this was the best we saw throughout Italy.
Breakfast: Breakfast provides more variety than most hotels in Italy, and the care taken in the beautiful ornate place settings, and the constant attention to the food display was almost touching.
Staff: This is a family run hotel, and you’ll likely get to meet every family member over the course of coming and going from the hotel at various hours. They take the running of the hotel seriously (a bit too seriously at times), but its nice to see their level of organization and dedication. They went out of their way for all the guests, repeatedly.
Altogether, this is a very well run hotel, but not in my favorite location. For others, location may be perfect.
