Hotel Golden is right by the Villa Borghese, in a really beautiful and charming neighborhood. I loved the location because it didn't feel overwhelmed by tourists, but was only a ten minute walk from the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. The neighborhood actually managed to make Rome feel like a small, comfortable city for the few days we were there on this trip.

Oh, and excellent wifi. And blessedly thick windows...the considerable street noise was totally shut out.

The hotel feels very safe...you have to buzz up and identify yourself to be let in, and the concierge keeps your keys at the desk for you. The service is excellent. The proprietor of the hotel gave us a great map and outlined an easy route to take us past all of the sights in Rome, and circled a few good restaurants in the neighborhood as well. Also, I got sick while I was there, and he recommended a nearby clinic and was very helpful and concerned. He also arranged a car service to the airport for us.

The room was small but really nicely done, with a comfortable bed and linens, nice tiled floors, and a clean and newly renovated bathroom. Everything seemed recently renovated, modern, and spotless. Almost all of the guests were American, it seemed, and I could see why. It wasn't exactly a quaint, historic inn, but was instead a very clean and modern and comfortable hotel, which is sometimes exactly what you need in an overwhelming city like Rome!

We stayed for 3 days, and it was excellent. The family run business really shows the care that they have put into every aspect of the Hotel. Maps with directions and ideas as to what to see, do and eat were provided. The room we has had to big windows which provided lots of brightes and fresh air. The continental breakfast was beautifully presented, with lots of options. Teresa, it was a joy chatting with you, you made me feel like a member of the family. The location was excellent!

This hotel was clean, and centrally located. It is family run with a warm friendly atmosphere. The rooms are modest but definately workable. The shower is very small. I would stay here again.

We spent two memorable weeks over Chirstmas holiday at the Hotel Golden, by the time we left, we felt like family. We converged at the hotel on December 22 from Philly, Hartford and Athens Greece missing my daughter's luggage. Guiseppi spent the next two days on the phone tracing her luggage and getting it delivered to the hotel. The big hotels around the corner would never have provided that service.

We had two rooms, my daughter had a small single which was perfect for her and we had a lovely double. The rooms were pristine, the beds good, and the hotel was quiet, even though it was a stones throw from the Via Veneto and our room looked out onto the city wall.

Marco and Guiseppi were great recommending restaurants and they even arranged for tickets to the opera. Every day they gave us insider tips regarding that day's adventures.

You could not ask for a better location, the 116 minibus runs up and down the Via Veneto all the way to the Vatican about every 4-10 minutes and with a week pass, it is essentially free. The metro stop is very close by and there are lots of cabs right around the corner.

We are actually going back to Italy in June and if we were going to be near Rome, we would definately stay at the Hotel Golden again.

The free and excellent WiFi was a hit with our daughter!

We stayed at the Golden for three nights. It was our first trip to Rome and we were very happy that we chose this hotel. For a very reasonable price for Rome we got a clean room in a good location. The included breakfast was excellent as well. We stayed in the triple, which was plenty large enough for two people. The hotel is a family operation and the younger brother was extremely helpful. Can't say the same for the older brother. Also, they provide free Internet access from a laptop in the lobby (although you have to stand up to use it). If you are budget conscious, it would be hard to beat the Golden.
