We just returned from a week-long stay in Rome, during which we stayed at this beautiful hotel. It is family run, and the family are all very friendly and helpful. We booked a small double, which was indeed small, but beautifully decorated and well laid out. The bathroom was perfectly laid out, featured a large shower, and was absolutely spotless. The bed was very comfortable, and we found extra pillows in the cabinet. They have the most sound-proofed windows we have ever experienced. Although the street below was quite noisy, closing the window blocked out virtually every noise. The mini-bar in the room had very reasonable prices, so we took advantage of this, to have cold water when needed, and a glass of wine in the evenings. The included breakfast was very nice, in the European style (cold cuts, cheese, yoghurt, cereals, a variety of breads, cakes, and sweet or savory pastries, juice, coffee).
The restaurants recommended by Marco were indeed very good, and offered delicious food and wine at reasonable prices. We also enjoyed being around the corner from the Via Veneto, and spent some time in cafes on that street, people watching. The location -- virtually across the road from the Borghese gardens -- was excellent. Since we had been to Rome before and had seen many of the major sites, we wanted to spend time in the Museo Borghese and the Etruscan museum, both located in the gardens. The gardens themselves were a quiet and cool oasis in the midst of the bustling city. Many of the sites, from Campo di Fiori to Piazza Navona, to the Pantheon, were a comfortable walk away. We even walked to the Vatican from the hotel, which was quite a hike, but doable.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
