When I stayed at the Albergo Giusti it was August and Rome was HOT. The air conditioning on my two nights was excellent. In fact, I was cold. Fortunately, the nuns provide guests with a remote control for the AC so you can control the temperature somewhat - by turning it off. The AC is also quiet, the unit is outside the room.

The TV in the room did not work but I was in the room so little that it did not matter. Hotel is very quiet, the rooms facing the street have double panes. Breakfast is continental plan: rolls, butter, jams, cereals, coffee tea milk.

There are two computers in the day room which one can rent by the hour, and beverage and snack vending machines. Everything is reasonable, clean and quiet.

There was NO curfew but you do have to buzz to get in.
Only one of the nuns spoke English - hers was excellent.

I highly recommend the Albergo Giusti and plan to stay there again when I visit Rome.

We stayed at Albergo Giusti, a short distance from the Roma train station for two nights in the beginning of December 2008 at the very end of our trip to Italy. The nuns were very kind and helpful even arranging for ground transportation to the airport for an early morning flight. We asked for a room facing the courtyard and it was blissfully quiet. There is a small elevator which is handy. Our ensuite room was very large and absolutely spotless! It appears the guest rooms have been recently remodeled with beautiful blue and white tile bathrooms with modern fixtures and shower. The bedroom had a large almost queen size bed, TV, desk, spacious wardrobe, nightstands, an individually controlled heating system that kept us warm during the early winter evenings and plenty of room to walk around. We only had breakfast one morning which consisted of strong fresh brewed coffee, hot milk, or tea, fresh crusty bread, jelly. The sisters are from India and couldn't be nicer. We were able to use the computer and printer the day of our departure to print off our airline boarding passes which was very helpful. While not plush, you couldn't ask for anything nicer or more secure. Be sure to make your reservations well in advance of your departure to Italy as I started the reservation process (a series of emails back and forth) just a couple of days before we started our trip to Italy and I wasn't quite sure the reservation was completely secured until we telephoned the convent while in Italy.

This property is well located - it is located within walking distance from Coliseum and other important cites, it is close to the metro (less than two blocks away), it is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, so you do not feel surrounded by hordes of tourists at all time. The building itself is pretty charmless 1950s concrete structure and the room decor is basically a dorm-room level - but an pristinly clean dorm room with excellent showers. The room appears to have airconditioning - which we did not need in October, so cannot say how well it works.

You can come and go as you like at any hours, just leave the keys at the front desk. One is buzzed into the building upon return, so it feels very secure. The nuns appear to speak good English and were helpful throughout the stay. There is a common computer with internet access and a printer which one can use for a nominal fee. Did not try breakfast, so cannot say much about that.

Overall, a very quiet, clean place in a good part of Rome and close to all the tourist attractions without being touristy.
If you are planning to spend much time in your room, you would not like this as it is very plain with minimal comforts, but if you are using your room mostly to sleep in and to shower, this is a perfectly nice place.

  • Liked — Location and nice hot showers
  • Disliked — Dorm-room-like plainness of the decor

We spent 6 nights at Albergo Giusti in late May 2008 and couldn't find fault with it. Our room was a good size with an en suite and the air conditioning was very welcome in the Rome heat. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful as were the nuns. The location was great - 10 min walk to Roma Termini train station, and to the Colosseum and 5 min walk to the nearest metro station. The neighboruhood was also nice - quite residential with some lovely restaurants and cafes and the supermarket at the end of the street was a great place to buy food and cheap bottled water 33c for 2litres. We paid 90 euros for a twin bedroom.

  • Liked — cleanliness, airconditoning, central location, friendly staff
  • Disliked — breakfasts were a bit basic

We stayed at the Albergo Giusti following a twelve day Carnival Freedom cruise and found it to be a wonderful place to stay. We were very pleased with the accommodations and just loved our small balcony. The room was very basic, but spacious and clean and the staff were very helpful with restauraunt suggestions, booking a taxi for transport to the airport when departing, sightseeing suggestions, etc. The breakfast was very good and a great start to our day. The convent was close to several churches and the restaurants in the area were good. We even lucked across a processional and mass with the Pope while dining and exploring the area on Thursday night of our stay which was very moving and something we did not expect. I would not hesitate to stay there again if we are so lucky to get to return to Rome.
