We enjoyed this B&B a whole lot. We stayed here 4 nights. Rome is expensive, so this was a great value for our money. All we really needed was somewhere to lay our heads since we were out and about all day long. The breakfast was good too...not a lot of variety, but good. We were really close to a metro stop and a 10 minute walk away from Roma Termini which made getting around Rome fairly easy. Staff was great and helpful. Overall I would grade our hotel in Rome a "B".

- Got this as a last-minute airplane & hotel package.
- Per the warning of other tripadvisors, we didn't accept small & cramped room #6 w/c was behind the front desk. But immediately requested and was granted another room. (They noted that we referred to "tripadvisor" as a reason to transfer.)
ACCOMMODATIONS: Room #9 was clean and excellent--double bed, 2 night tables, a writing desk, a window seat, a wardrobe, and a small refrigerator. They provided a portable heater--but we never used it bec. the hotel was warm enough.
- Stayed 5 nights and got fresh towels and toiletries every day.
- Compact toilet, shower & bidet; enough room to hang our drying laundry.
- Computer and internet was available during normal waking hours.
SECURITY: Inside, the B&B was safe. Front desk monitors visitors through staircase and mini-elevator. The floor is locked down at night.
- Outside, the neighborhood is safe. We came home late at night and left early morning and had no trouble.
FOOD: Wife loved breakfast of capuccino, chocolate butter over croissant, and yogurt.
- There are pizzerias and cafeterias around the corner w/c are reasonably priced and serve good food.
- Went grocery shopping at Conad in the Termini.
DIRECTIONS: From Termini, take the red line towards Anagnina and exit at first stop, Vittorio Emanuele. Follow signs to Via Carlo Alberto. At end of long hallway, go left, then right, and go up the steps to street level. This should put you on the left side of Via Carlo Alberto. Ahead of you is a small church and at the end of the block is a larger church, Santa Maria Maggorie. You will find Buonarroti on the left just pass the small church. The nameplate is small but the street numbering is clear. Note: the street names are on the sides of older buildings.

My boyfriend and i decided to have a weekend away in Rome for his birthday in February. This b & b was perfect for all of our needs. Real value for money and just 400m to the train station it was perfect. The hotel staff were extremley helpful. The rooms are basic but suprisingly you hear very littl enoise from the main road.

Th only downside to this hotel was that its not very easy to find - the reason for this is that it is on a floor within a 3 storey building and therefore there is only a small plaque on the side of the door.

All in all it was a fabulous weekend and i would stay here again.

Stayed at Buonarroti Home for 4 nights in September 2007. It was a little difficult to find but not too bad considering we had flown Vancouver to Frankfurt then on to Rome, took the train from the airport to Termini station and then walked with our suitcases to Buonarroti!

The tiny old elevator could only fit my husband and our two cases, but it was just a short flight of stairs to the rooms.

Staff were always pleasant and helpful and made great cappuccinos for breakfast. I've read several reviewers complain about the breakfast provided, but I thought it was adequate. Don't expect a cooked breakfast. What you get is a fairly typical European breakfast.

Our first room was located directly behind the reception area and reception was open 24 hrs and the walls were a little on the thin side so unfortunately it wasn't as quiet as we would have hoped. We mentioned this and were able to get another room which was much better.

The rooms are certainly not spacious, but if you're in Rome you should be out and about, not stuck in your room. Space comes at a cost, so if you're willing to sacrifice a bit of space and are looking for value for money I'd recommend this place.

Both rooms that we were in were not facing the street so there was no view to talk about, but the location of Buonarroti is great. We walked almost everywhere - the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore is at the end of the streeet; Termini station only 5-10 minutes walk; the Colosseum/Forum only 15-20 minutes walk.

I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for two nights in late May. Our room was simple, but clean. Furnishings are older. We were on the side of the building that faces a courtyard with other buildings around it. We could hear noise from the other buildings until bedtime then it quieted down. It was warm in our room the first night and central air conditioning was not allowed yet (government has rules about this). So I asked for a fan but was told there were none available. The next night they brought a room air conditioner in so it was better. The front desk was helpful with directions for restaurants and helping use the phone. The free internet was very helpful for us to use to keep in touch with family. The breakfast was just OK, kept us going for a few hours. Overall, a decent place to stay, good location for getting to the Metro, fairly close to the train station, but neighborhood does feel a little run down. Having an elevator is helpful and having someone on the front desk all the time is a plus.
