May 18, 2008 | Trip type: Couples

We stayed in the Buonarroti B&B for three nights in May 2008 at the front and back end of our honeymoon, The staff upon arrival was quite friendly and the room was clean. The location near the train station makes for easy access.

However, the breakfast is definitely not what we would consider of good quality for a guesthouse touting itself as a B&B: a roll-type piece of bread, packaged melba toast and pre-packaged croissants. Furthermore, we were extremely disappointed on our final night in Rome, as we had booked a room with a double bed and were placed in a room with twin beds, one of which was a fold-out cot. We were told that all double rooms were booked, even though we had our confirmation email. Not a particularly pleasant way to spend the final night of a honeymoon!

  • Disliked — The B&B breakfast was not of good quality. We reserved a double bed and were placed in a room with twin beds.

This B&B is really good value for money.
Stayed 3 nights in Feb 2008, in triple room which cost 85 Euros/night.
Found the staff really friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but adequate, and clean. Breakfast is basic but wouldnt normally even expect breakfast at this price.
Location is great, close walk to Termini station and less than 100m from nearest metro stop and also Santa Maria Maggiore. Great base to explore the city from.

I booked this guest housefor the England V Italy rugby game in Feb 2008. Near the Termini Station so quite central. The idea being that you are not in the place too much so you dont particularly need a big hotel. The room & bathroom were clean and the bed linen was also spotless. On arrival the staff were very attentive, spoke good english and made us feel at home straight away. They gave us maps of the city, explained where everything was and were very helpful.

Rooms were not huge but were fine. Breakfast is continental and suffices to fill a hole. There is an excellent restaurant 50 yards away if you turn right out of the guest house and cross the road, Go down some steps into the restaurant. we had a wonderful meal there at good prices.

There is some one on the desk 24 hours so if you want to come in late you can do so in the knowledge you can get in with no worries. All round a very good time was had by all. We would go back there again.

we recently had a vacation in rome and stayed at Buonarroti Home B&B for a week. First of all I would like to thank all the reviewers before me for suggesting this hotel. I will surely suggest this warm-welcoming, cozy and good-value for money B&B in the middle of rome.

Eventhough the breakfast is basic, their cappuchino is really good. The staff will help you out in any way they possibly can. Given that it is family run businness you have a personal interaction with the owners. This hotel is literally a minute walk from the Vittoria Emmanuele metro A station and Termini is about 5 min walk. There are lots and lots of pizzerias and other eating places within reach and the locality looked quite safe and quiet in the night.

I would surely would love to go to the same B&B the next time I am in rome.

Advantages
Close to main train station/metro.
Room had private bathroom (with good hot water) and bar fridge.
Included breakfast wasn't flash but it was food nonetheless. We added to it with fresh fruit bought from the excellent market just down the road (south of the B&B, near the Termini train station).
Within 15 minutes walking distance of Colosseum/Roman Forum.
Friendly staff.
Free internet.
Great value for money.

Disadvantages
The only real disadvantage is that the area around the main train station is a little bit unnerving when you first arrive loaded down with luggage and screaming "tourist, tourist" to anyone that sees you. But once you dump your bags, and settle in, the surrounding area is fine. We had zero problems.

  • Liked — Within walking distance to main attractions
  • Disliked — The Termini train station location is a little intimidating when you first arrive
