We stayed 2 nights in this Guest House (Euro 120.00 per night), after spending 2 nights at the Hotel Filippo by the Termini Station (Euro 99.00, a great option if you are on a tight budget).

The most memorable thing about our stay at Arena was the warm and very friendly hosts. They were always willing to help and offer advice.

This was the most expensive hotel of the 9 hotels we stayed in during our Europe trip. (We found La Venere/Florence, Locanda Antico Casin/Venice, Hotel Centrale/Bellagio, Celestins/Lyon, Brouwer/Amsterdam to be superior and less expensive).

The room we had was small but cosy, with a window providing light and fresh air. The free internet and free snacks/drinks were greatly appreciated. The location was excellent.

Some minor shortcomings:
- to flush the toilet required pushing the button several times very fast
- the airconditioning unit was noisy
- our room was beside the reception area, so was very noisy.

We bought a Roma Pass (Euro 23.00) and used it to visit the Colosseum and Terme di Caracalla (Roman Baths) & took advantage of the free public transport. Vincent's advice on which buses to take to the various sights was a great help.

After viewing the website, our expectations were probably higher than what was offered. However, the warmth and kindness of the hosts will always be the enduring memories of this guest house.

We arrived in Rome after a week long trip in France for a short two day excursion in Rome. We took the bus to the metro and then the metro to the hotel. The metro is about a mile from the hotel with unforgiving sidewalks if you are halling a bunch of luggage with you. (I might suggest getting a taxi). Walking to the hotel, you pass the Colosseum. The hotel is literally a 4-5 minute walk from the hotel. Also, most of all the other main attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. We arrived at the Guest House to be greeted warmly by Vincent and who I would assume is his daughter working the reception and cleaning the rooms. The place seemed very inviting and cozy. We went through the check-in process and were given the keys to our room. Then, without even asking him, Vincent gave us a map highlighting all the major attractions, told us the most efficient (and inexpensive) ways to get there, and what to do when we got there. We followed his advice to the T and made it around the city easily. We went to our room to find exactly what the picture had shown. We had a large bed, tv, FREE INTERNET, air conditioning (a must when staying in Italy during the summer, a very cozy, clean room. That evening, we wanted authentic Italian. We went to the front desk to ask for a suggestion. We were greeted by Barbara (the sweetest woman you will ever meet) who gave us a map, highlighted where the closest restaurants were, wrote down how to get there, what the names were, what they served, etc. Very helpful. We ate at two of the places she suggested and they were wonderful. We checked out on the third day. It went very smoothly. They ordered us a cab par our request the night before and it was waiting for us when we returned from breakfast. Overall, an amazing place to stay, very helpful and kind staff. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 5 nights in June and would definitely stay here again.
The guest house is in a great location, just go to the end of the street and you can see the colesseum not even 100m away! So cracking value for money with the location. We walked everywhere from here, even to the appian way.
The owners are absolutely lovely and always willing to help you out, when we first arrived Vincent gave us a map with all the popular locations on and pointed out what buses to get from the hotel to various places.
The rooms are a tad on the small side (you're never in them anyway!) , but all en-suite with a telly, fridge and computer with free net access and they're cleaned everyday.
We really enjoyed our stay here and will defintely stay here again on our next visit to Rome.

Totally agree with the other reviews about this establishment. The locality is superb and the quality and value of the nearby eateries has to be experienced. Advice willingly provided by Vincent was excellent and invaluable.
The only word of warning is you cannot settle your account with anything other than cash. We tend to rely heavily on credit cards favouring this to carrying cash around especially when abroad but fortunately we were able to us the cash machines which were closeby.

The number one selling point of this hotel is the location. As promised, it is literally a 2 minute walk from the Colosseum, making it very close to all sightseeing buses and other attractions.

Vincent, Barbara, and the young girl at the front desk were always helpful and providing suggestions for food and sightseeing. They were an absolute delight!!
The rooms were tiny, but neat and clean enough. My biggest complaint was the darkness. The lights were fairly dim and there were workers outside so we had to draw the curtains on the one window in the room. It was nice to have internet access, but no English channels on the tv was a drawback.

We were given coupons for breakfast at two cafes nearby. The choice was limited to a pastry and cappucino or tea. This got a little tiring after a few days! There was always orange juice, coffee, tea, and prepackaged croissants available in the hallway by the front desk which was nice.

Overall, a good experience and would stay here on other trips to Rome.
