The rooms are very clean and modern and the staff (usually the one manager at the desk) is very friendly and helpful. However, guests must be aware of several things: The entrance to the residence is located in a busy square behind a set of rail tracks. This means if you plan on arriving by taxi with any luggage, you must get out in the middle of the street next to the curb, carry your bags 50 steps over the rail tracks to the outer doors that are always locked, ring the front desk from outside, then once you are buzzed in you walk into a courtyard about forty steps to another set of doors, must be buzzed in again, and finally you have reached the elevator. This elavator is small even for European standards. It fits exactly two people and no luggage. Once you get to the third floor, you enter a third door and you have finally arrived to the residence. And you must be buzzed in at each door every time you come and go. This may be suitable if you travel light and only exit the hotel once all day, but it was terribly inconvenient for me. Just be aware.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel after finding good reviews about it on this website. There were both good and bad points to the hotel so I'll start with the good.

Excellent location. Well within walking distance of all the tourist attractions. Furthest being vatican probably about 40mins stroll away. Public tram stop virtually outside the hotel enterance, for those less mobile, or the city sight seeing buses stopped on the main street no more than 5 mins walk away.

Staff. I found all staff to be friendly and helpful and all spoke English to a reasonable standard, and were able to help with directions and taxi transfers to the airport on our departure day.

Breakfast served 7am - 10am so good if you're setting off early on departure day.

Now the bad...

The hotel, although set back from the main road through a courtyard, does back on to a side street and our room (No 4) was noisy at night (and well into the night too) with the bars/restaurants on the side street. Other rooms may not have been this noisy depending on which side they were on.

The breakfast. Lovely coffee, and selection of teas available but the breakfast consisted of bread with cheese and meat, croissants, yoghurts, cereals, and cake. The croissants with chocolate spread were nice for the first day but after that something else would have been nice, like toast or an omelette. Also the breakfast is served in the reception area of the hotel which is directly outside all the rooms and so you sometimes get woken by other guests dining if you're wanting to sleep a little later.

The Room. We booked the Junior suite (with jaccuzzi) and I was disappointmed at how small the room was. The cloth covered walls (?!) were dirty, and the jacuzzi area was in the bedroom and so close to the bed that the bedding got wet as we got out.
The bathroom was always spotless but the shower screen didn't fit properly allowing water to leak onto the tiled floor Being unaware of this on our first day my partner stepped out onto the tiled floor and slipped and twisted his ankle and bruised his leg.

All in all we were not hugely impressed with this hotel. The main redeeming feature was the central location but it did not outweigh the negative points. We would not return here.

My husband and I stayed at Argentina Residenza in May, 2007 for two nights. We were thrilled with the location, the staff, and the city.
We stayed in Camera II, which slept three in two beds. The room was extremely clean with a small desk, satellite tv, large closet, safe, and large window. The bathroom was fantastic - the whirlpool tub was just what our feet needed after walking around Rome.
Yes, the hotel was hard to find at first and the elevator was extremely small, but the location was fantastic. The hidden location makes it quieter since the rooms do not face Torre Argentina, but a small side street. The hotel is located directly to the left of Teatro Argentina, an easy identifiable landmark. It is a 5 minute walk to the Pantheon, 10 minutes to Campo Di Fiori and Piazza Navona, 15 minutes to the Forum, Coliseum, and Trevi Fountain, and 20 minutes to the Spanish Steps and the Vatican. The area is extremely safe - we walked to Isola Tiberina at 2am and felt safer than we do at home. Open air restaurants, shopping, and gelato are steps away.
Rodel Baquillas, the staff member who responded to our emails and greeted us at check-in, was amazing. His directions and advice were immeasurable.
One note about travel to/from the airport: The hotel offers a car service for 50 euro from Fiumicino airport directly to the hotel. We took the Leonardo Express from the airport to Termini Station for 11 euro per person, then an outrageously priced 25 euro cab from the station to the hotel. Rodel later confirmed what I suspected - the cab ride from the Station should be no more than 8 euro. Bottom line, we should have just taken the hotel's car service. Another option is Bus 40, which stops at Termini Station and directly outside the hotel.
I thoroughly researched small hotels in Rome for a true feel of the city. I didn't want to stay at the Hilton where I would just be another tourist. We were not disappointed and would definitely return to Argentina Residenza.

This was a great little bed and breakfast (it's definitely not big enough to be called a boutique hotel with only 5 rooms) in a central location and good service. The room I had was a duplex and was large. The bathrooms are a good size although europeans seem to love these narrow upright showers. The facilities are clean and the breakfast was adequate.
I would also recommend this place in comparison to other b&b's because I had stayed at two earlier in this trip and noticed there was not elevator. But low and behold, this one does so that is certainly a perk for someone who after spending two weeks there, had a 50 lb bag!
Enjoy!

Spent 3 nights in their suite, for the beginning of our honeymoon!
Location is unbeatable, right in the middle of the city with easy access to all the historical places.
The room was amazing, modern furnishing, lots of comforts and a huge jacuzzi in the bedroom which we found great after a long day of walking in busy Rome.
The only thing that could be improved is the breakfast, a little limited but a fresh croissant & a nice cappuccino were a great start of the day anyway!
We will be back!
