This small boutique hotel in the heart of old Rome lived up to what we read about it. The hotel is intimate (6 rooms) on the third floor of a residential building located within a 10 minute walk of most major attractions. While the area is very busy, the rooms are located back form the busy street and are reasonably quiet, with new windows keeping out most (but not all) noise. This is not a full service hotel, but a comfortable charming and friendly place to stay in a colorful neighborhood.

There is a small lift form the lower floor to make getting the luggage up easier. Bathrooms are very clean and modern. Our bathroom had a generous sized enclosed tub shower with good water pressure. Stepping in and out over the high tub sides might be a bit difficult for older or disabled visitors, but more of a minor hassle otherwise.

The hotel staffed by the brother-owners 24 hours a day. They brothers are very congenial and helpful. They arranged shuttle service (taxi) to and from FCO upon request. We had the same (very pleasant) driver both ways.

Breakfast is a reasonable assortment of breads, juice, fruit, ham & cheese, yogurts, and really tasty cappuchino - no hot items, but quite good.

Excellent location, great breakfast, wonderful ambiance, very quiet , very helpful and friendly staff who arranged bookings, transport, bus routes etc. There is a lift, although small, as well as a bar and SKY tv. Recommend to anyone. Will go back.

Lovely stay at the Residenza Argentina . The hotel is effectively on the 3rd floor of a block but don't let this put you off. Our room (IV) was very comfortable (jacuzzi bath, shower, mini bar etc.) and the service is excellent (very good English). Five minutes walk gets you to the Pantheon, Isola Tiberina and the Wedding Cake (Piazza Venezia - you can pick up a tour bus here) and about 10/15 to the Colosseum. Castel Sant Angelo and even the Vatican are walkable. There is a taxi rank in the Largo di Torre Agentina if you prefer not to walk. The hotel provides a good continental breakfast to keep you going till lunch or at least your first snack of the day . No wifi but wired internet access (they will supply a lead for your laptop if you ask). Fresh towels everyday. Very happy to have picked this place for our 25th wedding anniversary.

We're annual visitors to Rome and have watched prices of a couple of our favorite hotels rise dramatically (both against the Euro and in real terms), so this time, in recession mode, we searched for someplace nice and well-located in the 200 Euro range - thinking we'd probably have to settle for something near Termini or further afield than we wanted to be. But Argentina Residenza was available at exactly 200 Euros for a triple, and so we snapped it up, and are glad we did. The staff was very helpful (got extra pillows minutes after requesting them, and assistance with bags), everything was new and clean, bathroom was roomy with very hot water and high pressue in the shower (always welcome), breakfast was fine (the usual for Rome - cereals, juices, meat and cheese, etc.) and the beds were comfortable. Yes, you have to be rung in and schlep bags from Via di Torre Argentina through a passageway into a central courtyard and then up a very small elevator to the third floor, but if you're a veteran traveler, this shouldn't bother you, and even adds to the charm (if you haven't overpacked). When we got back to the states my wife realized she had lost a souvenir and e-mailed to ask the staff to search our room. They replied within an hour (didn't find anything, but we appreciated the quick response). We will definitely consider Argentina Residenza when we return in 2010.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place (note: it isnt really a full Hotel with all the usual amenities, but does the job if you dont require concierge service, gym, restaurant etc.). The standard of the rooms is very good (I would say about 4-stars). I had free Internet access. The breakfast is basic, but ok as it was included in the rate.

  • Liked — Room quality.
  • Disliked — A bit hidden and perhaps too dark in Summer.
