This hotel is located about 1/2 mile from the train station, so that was nice. But the part of town it's in feels unsafe (but we never ran into any problems). Lots of graffiti, lots of traffic, and lots of noise. The rooms have a nice little terrace which was nice. Tile floors. The maid service was poor, the shower was TINY and had problems draining, and it leaked so we were constantly mopping up the floor. The maid forgot to leave us towels, paper towels, soap and we would have to request it. The front desk staff all spoke English and were friendly but they weren't as friendly as other hotel front staff that we ran into on our trip. Breakfast was really inadequate--croissants, white rolls, butter and jam, coffee. I was expecting cereal at least, or maybe a piece of fruit. Oh well. We only ate their breakfast 1/4 days were were there and bought some food at a local grocery. There was a refridgerator in the room but it didn't work. There was no safe in the room but I didn't inquire as to if they had one at the front. The value was certainly good....it was the largest hotel room we stayed in during our tour of Venice, Florence, and Rome, but was the least clean, had the worst breakfast, poor location, lots of noise, and least friendly staff. Reading my review makes it appear as though I had a bad experience, but it wasn't bad...just not great. If you're used to staying in super 8s and motel 6's, you'll be fine!
The strange thing is that our room did not come with a remote control, so I called the front desk to ask for one and the overnight guy said that it would cost 20 euro deposit to get it. We didn't didn't want to pay that so didn't. The next day, we thought we'd just pay the deposit and they just gave us the remotes, saying there was no deposit. The staff member was looking for a few bucks and we would have been without recorse. Shady.
