My Boyfriend & I stayed at Hotel Lux at the end of May this year.
Our first impression of the hotel was fairly decent.
The lobby is nice and the staff is friendly and makes a great attempt to speak English. We arrived with other couples on our tour group and everyone got checked in pretty much right away.
Our room however was on the main floor and was the size of my closet. I guess you don't end up spending that much time in your hotel anyway. When you walk into the room it's just your bed, 2 night stands, a desk, mini fridge (which we didn't know was there or had free drinks until the day we left), a TV, and a small safe in a cupboard beside the bed. The safe was great you could set your own combination and we used it a lot.
The bathroom was pretty small, but it had an AMAZING bathtub (no shower.. just a shower head with no curtain or anything). After walking around the city for hours it was great to have a place to soak your feet. LOL.
The rooms did not have a working A/C. This wouldn't have been a problem if we had the option of leaving our window open. Our room was located on the main floor in the back of building which faced the maintenance room. So basically our room looked into a cement room with all the water and electrical [----]. We always had to keep our windows closed and locked. There was a ladder outside our window that leads to the street so really anyone could have hopped the fence and walked into our room. Very Scary!!!
Also, the workers would come down every morning and start yelling, banging on the pipes, walking back and forth outside our window and smoking at about 7:30am. Being on the ground level we also got to enjoy being woken up by the women setting up breakfast every morning; yelling.. table moving.. etc.
We tried to change rooms but they were completely booked solid so we made the best of it. OH and just a quick note on the breakfast... it [-----------]! Breakfast consisted of warm cream on stale cereal, rock hard buns, meat left out in the air for hours getting all hard and crusty and juice. We only ate the first day and after that went out for Breakfast.
If the staffs weren’t so friendly and helpful it would have made the trip a lot worse. They pointed us in the direction of great shops and things to see.
The hotel was very central and easy to find. I would suggest staying there if you don't intend on staying in your hotel more than a couple of hours at night. Just don't stay on the ground level!!!!!!
