BEWARE - The hotel is almost 2 kilometers from both Ostia Antica ruins and train station (and 10k from the airport - check Google maps!) and the only route is a very busy road with no sidewalks or shoulder. The website is blatantly false, and should be charged with false advertising - 800 meters is simply a lie - and staff was unapologetic. The 15 euro shuttle service to the airport is only available at limited times. The alternative is a 35 euro taxi which was late. The location is dismal, next to a busy road and completely isolated from all restaurants and shops. Don't stay here if you intend to walk to the ruins, or the train station! The beef "fillet" for 15 euros was not edible. However, the breakfast was fine, and room 204 is very large and spacious with a large balcony over the courtyard. The city bus service is good (cheap and fast), but buy your bus tickets for both directions at the front desk - we couldn't find anywhere in town to buy our return ticket, as the shops were closed. Tiny TV with poor reception. The ruins are great, but don't stay at this hotel to see them! The ruins are a short walk from the train station so, if you're in Rome, you can come for the day without having to spend a night.

Cheap, close, and has a shuttle. Food was good. Nothing to complain about but nothing to cheer.

This hotel is nothing like the pictures on the website. The rooms are tiny and very cheap in construction. The floors have no carpet. There is no furniture except something like an open bookshelf and very cheap portable chairs and a small plastic wood table. The TV is 12" and only a few channels all in Italian.

Like others posting here (which I wish I had checked before going) we were aghast when we saw our room and asked for a larger one. The larger one was slightly larger but equally unattractive and poorly equipped. The breakfast was like the cheapest American motel: about 1/4 pound of salami spread out on a plate and basic juice and cereal and hard boiled eggs.

Transportation options were limited. We went to the nearby ruins at 8 30 AM by shuttle but could not get back at 4 as the shuttle was not operating. We eventually got a taxi for 15 euros for the five minute ride. The taxi came with about 7 euros already on the meter for the pick up.

Worst of all was the staff attitude. As we asked for extra hangers, pillows, and safe instructions, we were met with suppressed guffaws and unpleasant attitudes. This staff are in no way interested in service.

It was hard to tell who the other clients were. I saw no other Americans there but large extended Italian families who were rather motley looking and hanging around the lobby.

The dinner was expensive and terrible!

Only advantage: near the ruins!! Which are great!!
We called a driver whom we knew from Rome and made arrangements to check into the airport Hilton the night before our flight instead of remaining here as we had no confidence they would get us to our flight on time and thought they would just chuckle if we missed it.

  • Liked — Near the historical site.
  • Disliked — Staff attitudes.

We were staying at this hotel just for one night. We had an early flight out, and their website said they were near the airport. This is true. The hotel shuttle (not free) in the morning was easy and took under half an hour. The room was fine and the shower was one of the best we had in Italy.
On the downside, the hotel's website made the walk from the train station to the hotel seem easy, only 800m in a straight line. We were lucky that someone from the train took pity on us and offered us a ride, which was at least 4 minutes and took several turns on busy roads with tiny sidewalks. I would not recommend walking it. The hotel offers a shuttle from the train station, but I believe you need to set it up in advance.
Also, the restaurant at the hotel, while delicious and decently priced, was severely understaffed. There was one waitress for the whole place, which, except for us, was filled with about 6 groups from 3-10 people each group. Needless to say, the poor waitress couldn't get to everyone, so the service was really slow.

  • Liked — close location to airport
  • Disliked — hard to get to from train station

Agree with most of the reviews mentioning problems with location; poor signage from train station and we ended up walking to the hotel for lack of info as to how far it was--survived traffic nearby just barely, lugging wheeled case through ditches full of rain for half an hour. Take the bus! Hotel is so far from 'village' and ruins that you need to. Front desk was exactly as helpful as they needed to be and not a bit more friendly than that, though they did change our room when asked and were prompt with the wakeup call.
As a little village, most things (very few to begin with in the way of shops or cafes) close in the afternoon; we had planned to visit the ruins but for no apparent reason and with no advance warning they were closed that day (not the fault of the hotel of course but be prepared--it's Italy--but if this happens you may consider whether there is anything else to do there for the day--not in winter. the hotel has 3 or 4 channels of TV, all Italian.) Breakfast basic, pizza at bar ok but does not match description given in elevator menu, be warned.
As to the quality of the hotel--clean enough but barely adequate, comparable to cheap plywood constructs I've stayed in in places like remote Turkey or Ukraine (for far less money). Hardest beds ever which is saying something in Italy--lost a lot of needed sleep the night before a long flight. Entire hotel 'decorated' minimally in the 1970s and not touched since, apparently.
The advertised internet costs 5 euros per half hour to use--be advised that the little "Bar" in the village, last one on the row going toward the ruins, has FREE internet for customers.
The shuttle service was fine but they did tell us we had to leave at 7.00 a.m. to allow an hour to get to the airport, which in fact took 20 minutes so could have left an hour later. We wished fervently that we'd stayed in a B&B in town instead, all in all.

  • Liked — It was a place to get in out of the December rain?
  • Disliked — beds and location.
