The hotel was difficult to access without your own transport, the so called shuttle service was over priced and only available at certain times. On the day we left we tried to book the shuttle for 4.00pm but were told that at 11.00 it stopped and did not re-start until 5.00pm. The shuttle cost 10 euros per person one way. A taxi was quoted at 40 euros and the hotel is only 8 km from the airport! We used local buses for 2 euros total! The bus stops adjacent to the hotel and takes you to Lido central and then you pick up the airport bus SO EASY AND CHEAP!. The hotel was clean and ample for our stay breakfast was the same every day and very limited no fresh fruit which would have been nice. MY TIP use local transport everywhere and shop at the local GS store and use the restraurants and bars in the villiage

We expected a 3 star and paid 130E for our last night in Italy. The web sites we checked assured us the hotel was 3 star, had wireless internet throughout the 'entire' hotel (Booking.com) and was air conditioned.

The beds were the most uncomfortable and noisy (creaked loudly with every movement, looked like home built wooden boxes with a thin mattress on top) I have ever experienced in a hotel, the room was tiny and the TV even more minute. There was nowhere to put anything in the equally minute bathroom. The air conditioning had been turned off two weeks earlier, we were told, and internet was only available in an office adjacent to the front desk.

When we arrived in Rome by train we called and were assured that if we took the appropriate trains we would be picked up from the Ostia Antica train station - just call and let them know we had arrived. No mention was made that there are no pick ups between 11.00am and 5.00pm. We might have discovered from the web page, but we didn't, and we did have their assurances. We arrived around 3.00pm and called and they told us which bus to catch. That left two no longer young retirees with heavy bags (one recovering from knee surgery) to negotiate a horrendous footbridge with long flights of steps, narrow unmade edges to the road and an anxious period as we tried to find out which direction we should be going in. We lugged our cases onto the bus and when we got off we had to cross one of the most dangerous roads I have encountered.

We arrived at check in and there were two men and a woman behind the desk. After seeing the poor standard of our room I went downstairs to express my dissatisfaction. I was informed by the young man at the desk that he was unhappy too, it was a standard twin room and there was nothing to be done! He explained that no one could pick us up because he was alone at the desk - not my observation - that the air conditioning was not broken, it had been turned off, that there was no wireless internet in the hotel. His attitude was 'smart' and unhelpful.

We are pretty seasoned travelers. We were fuming about the pick up debacle, but more importantly don't understand how this hotel could ever have been given a three star rating. For a two star, it was OK.

  • Liked — The bidet - Europeans are so civilized!
  • Disliked — Beds, staff attitude, room in general.

When we arrived at a nearby train station we called the hotel asking them to send a cab. The taxi service ripped us off by refusing to set the meter to zero (we were already under way when we noticed) and charged us an astronomical fee for a 5 minute ride! When we complained to the hotel staff- their response was rude and they refused to accept any responsibility.
Overall, the staff was not customer service oriented, verging on
being rude. The hotel rooms were clean, however despite the claim for comfortable rooms, none of my family's rooms (we had 5 rooms) were air conditioned. When we called to complain - again, the response was rude and simply - it doesn't work and I don't know when it will. Initially, they lied when they indicated it was only my room, then changed the story to include "the entire hotel."

Please avoid this hotel - despite the seemingly reasonable room rate.
Not worth it!

  • Liked — Nice building and clean rooms, nice maid
  • Disliked — Poor service, rude front desk staff (condescending), false advertising (no air)

I was using this hotel as a base for an early start at the Ostia Antica archeological site. I knew I would be arriving late, so I emailed a few days before arriving to notify them and to check that the reception was open, and also to check the details of how to reach them. The instructions I received back were the same as on their website (take metro, train and then bus from near the Ostia Antica station).

Travelling there was fine and simple, until the bus went on a diversion due to road works. So, WARNING; If you are planning on using the bus to get to the hotel, call or email the hotel to check if the road works are still affecting the bus route. They offer a reasonably priced shuttle service and can collect you instead (check hours for this service), so that's not a problem.

When I reached the hotel, the reception was helpful and efficient, answering my questions, booked a shuttle for me to get to the archeological site in the morning and getting me quickly to my room. The room was standard, reasonable size, clean and in good condition. Standard sort of buffet breakfast, which was good and plentiful, although it was dispenser type machines for tea / coffee / juice.

Quick and easy check out in the morning and the shuttle ride to the Ostia Antica archeological site was really useful, no stress, dropped at the entrance. Overall a good standard, value for money hotel!

  • Liked — Clean, quiet, value for money
  • Disliked — Bus diversion in trying to reach hotel.

This hotel was the perfect place to stay the last night of our trip to Italy. The rooms are basic, but nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant surpassed our expectations for dinner and the breakfast was, again, basic but satisfying. The front desk was extremely busy the morning we left - with scheduling shuttles to the airport and many people checking out. I wished for the gentleman's sake that there were two people staffing the desk as there had been the night before when we checked in, but he kept his head and went above and beyond to ensure everyone was taken care of as quickly and efficiently as possible. He spoke excellent English and had a wonderful attitude with a sense of humor. The only problem we had was with the shuttle to the airport, or rather the driver. I understand we are in Italy and did our best with our Italian with no problems the entire trip, but this man spoke no English and, worse, did not understand the names of airlines. His job is to take tourists to the airport! We told him many many times that our airline was Iberia, but he dropped us off at the wrong terminal. He kept asking if we were American. We tried to explain that we needed Iberia Airlines, but he couldn't get past the fact that we were flying to America, so he dropped us off at the American terminal. Because there was no signage, we could not confirm this (we suspected based on the communication) until we waited on a line to get to someone to ask. Fortunately, we had adequate time to hop an airport shuttle and get to the terminal we needed. Were I to stay here again, I would ask the front desk to communicate our destination to the driver. But I would certainly stay again.
