My Husband and i had a really bad time during our stay at this hotel, Firstly on arrival to check in, the reception staff was looking at guns on the computer, not a nice welcoming,
Our room was clean and very basic, the bed was extemelly hard, and the tv control didnt work, The washroom was a nightmare, the shower if you could call it a shower didnt have warm running water, and when flushing the toilet the pipes would make a horrific noise that lasted so long, everyone would have heard it in the building,
We stayed for 2 nights and didnt get much sleep due to very noisy neighbours, and street life banging throughout the night and noise noise noise....
even throughout the daytime going back to the hotel room for a rest was impossible due to construction work next door it sounded like our wall was going to cave in,
Overall a bad experience and i wouldnt recommend this hotel whatsoever,

Our deepest apology for the bad experience of our guests stated in this review. However, it happens to be that the "guns" seen on the computer at the reception is one of the popular games in Playstation 3 called "Call of Duty" which is a war simulation played online and during that period, there was an international competition held in Rome, called "The Gameland" and the hotel accommodated many players in the said event. So for those who didn't recognize this state-of-the-art games, we regret and apologize for the confusion. Fortunately, one of the positive sides of the hotel was mentioned - cleanliness - and one of the most important.
Noisy neighborhood is not anymore the hotel's responsibility and street life noise is normal in any popular city all over the world. During the day time, when all clients normally are outside the hotel to explore the beauty of the City of Rome, that's the only time for the hotels to do the cleanings and renovation in other hotels. And in our case, it happens that the other hotel above us are having renovations during that time so the noise during the day can't be avoided. At any rate, the expenses of the hotel for renovation is for the guests in the near future for a better stay and not to annoy the present guests. However, working hours for carpenters and operators finishes at 6:00 p.m. Most of the bad experiences mentioned are not caused by the hotel to say that we are not recommendable.

This was an awful experience. When my wife and I arrived,we had to climb up some steep stairs to the reception, upon when we were escorted out and down the road to an annex , to another buliding.
This turned out to be where we were staying, couldnt see any fire exits or instructions in this dodgy building.
Air conditioning was only available with a remote control which had an extra cost.
Room had just enough space to swing a cat.
Had to make a worthless journey for breakfast in the morning for some bread and coffee.

Our deepest apology if it has been an awful experience for your stay at our hotel. At the main entrance on the street-side, we have 6 door bells each with the name of the hotel for our guests to use in case they need help for their luggage. We have personnel in-charge for this service. When the clients complained about the absence of elevator in our building, we offered the room in our dependance hotel just at the building in front of us where we have an elevator. The building is old since it was built more than a century ago, but not dodgy. Only the exterior looks old to preserve antiqueness of Rome, but the interior is newly renovated. As stated from their letter that they were escorted out and down the road to our annex, our personnel carried their luggage until they reach the elevator on the next building and up to the room. In our dependance hotel, the exit to the stairs from the farthest room is only 5 steps away in only 1 corridor so indication is not necessary. From our website and from the information e-mail we send for each client, air-conditioning is upon request with an extra charge specially when you avail the special promotional rates. The size of our double rooms is standard except from the superior rooms which are more spacious.
At the reception before we escort guests to our dependance hotel, we inform our guests that breakfast is on the main building since there’s no breakfast hall in our annex. Bread and coffee are the main ingredients of a continental breakfast but they forgot to mention the fruit juices, hot tea, hot and cold milk, cereals, fruit jams, biscuits and butter. Climbing 26 steps to arrive at the reception area is not worth complaining if you’re coming to Rome to climb the 138 steps of the famous Spanish Steps, or the 305 steps to the lantern at the very tip of St. Peter’s dome. In the center of Rome, you can only find old buildings and most of them are without elevators. If the problem is carrying of luggage, our personnel is always ready to help.

We (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in a quadruple room. We elected not to get air conditioning for an extra 10 Euro. It was hot but comfortable, however our room looked into the courtyard and things got a little noisy one night due to a party in an adjoining apartment. Not the hotel's fault, but we should have taken the air conditioning and closed the window. Breakfast was very basic, but there are so many places to get food all day long immediately around the hotel and in the train station that it doesn't matter. The room was basic, not new but very clean. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant recommendation (Regina's a few blocks away) was great. This was the cheapest hotel by about 40% in all of Italy (we also stayed in Florence and Venice). The other hotels were a little better (newer rooms and better breakfast), but much more expensive and we didn't come to Italy to spend all of our time in the hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to save a few bucks and stay here again. We didn't find the neighborhood bad at all even though our guidebook said the train station neighborhood was sketchy.

What you see in the pictures is NOT what you get. This was the worst hotel during our trip to Italy (we stayed at 4 different properties within the same price range). The place is dirty, run-down and incredibly noisy. The furniture is falling apart. The bathroom was 100% disgusting - you think twice before getting inside the shower because it is THAT bad. The hotel did seem to have a few remodelled rooms, but they didn't look much better than the rest of the rooms (we checked them out when the rooms were being "cleaned"). Breakfast included 1 stale roll and coffee or juice from a machine. That's it - no fruit, pastries or cold-cuts of any kind. Staff were incredibly rude. If you try to complain, they ARGUE with you and they restart the argument every time you happen to pass by. Something like this would be completely out of the question in any North American/German/Swiss, etc. hotel regardless of the price. Even though the place is adverized as air-conditioned, they charge you extra for the AC (if you agree to pay, you get a remote to your room's AC and there's no way to control the AC without the remote). This place is to be avoided at all costs - a stay at Luciani can spoil your whole vacation!

The pictures as seen from our website are the rooms you will get if you reserve the right room. Meaning, if you reserve a classic room, naturally you can’t have a superior room. If you make a simulation of reserving a room from our web site, you will be given a series of choices, and naturally you will be given the cheapest room as the first option, and at the last option the superior rooms which costs more. As stated in most reviews, the rooms were simple but clean. As a matter of fact, out of 27 reviews, there are 24 votes for 3/5 and above, and only 3 out of 27 reviews voted for less than 3/5. Meaning, we’ve maintained the satisfaction of clients as far as cleanliness is concerned. From our special promotion rates, it is stated that you can save up to 20% discount for the cost of the room, but it is clearly stated that the air condition is not included. It is the client's obligation to read and understand the terms and conditions before confirming the reservation. The management and staff has never been rude to our guests, as a matter of fact, from all the reviews posted, most people say the staff are reliable, friendly and honest. Any dissatisfaction from our guests should have been discussed with us during their stay so we can give immediate remedy and solutions such as transfering to another room or further discount for the room rate. Our deepest gratitude for the other guests who wrote good reviews about the hotel.

Stayed 4 nights, Thursday to Monday. The people at the desk, especially Veronica were fantastic to say the least. Hotel is very conveniently situated right next to the train and bus station. The area was no problem at all. The superior room included air conditioning which was necessary at this time of year (otherwise 10 euro a day!). Breakfast was very simple but a reasonable start to the day. Staff reliable, friendly and honest. The rooms were simple but comfortable for the price paid. It is NOT a rundown place with a few beds and chairs. I had the feeling that they wanted to please so that word of mouth would spread the news of a good place at a very reasonable price with a decent service, which is not the rip off that much of Rome is. Be sure to book ahead for some of the major sites like the Vatican Museum, Borghese Gallery and the Coloseum if you can.
In Trastevere there are good meals to be had at reasonable prices. Go to the Piazza Sante Maria in Trastevere and walk upwards through the small alley about 50m to the right of the church. Dont eat or drink (a beer can be 8 euros!) in the square. Carry on for about 600m round a slight bend and then a turn to the left to Taverna della Scala (Piazza della Scala). A litre house wine 8 euros, a menu for 15 euros (4 courses with choices for the two main courses-good Italian cuisine and quality) and an excellent staff.
Veronica at the hotel has excellent ideas for walks, visits and ideas of how to do things. There is internet access in the Hotel.
Will definitely stay there again and recommend it with 5 stars as an overall fair priced and good package.
