Albergo Romano is a pretty sensational deal, with a fabulous location, really clean rooms, friendly staff and reasonable rates. I wanted to be close to the Colosseum, and I don't think there's a hotel closer. It's close to two metro stations and easy walking distance to the key sights in the central city.

This is not a luxury hotel and the rooms are small. I had a single room which was totally sufficient. The bed was comfortable, no noise of any note (and my room faced the street) and staff was helpful and efficient.

Breakfast is served in a wonderful outdoor restaurant along the street, with the neighboring coffee shop providing the service.

No complaints at all and I would definitely stay there again, especially as a solo traveler.

Stayed here at the end of my vacation in Italy. The location is absolutely perfect, the breakfast charming, the staff friendly. My only complaint would be the bathroom tiles, which were not clean. Stll, when you consider the location and the modest price of the room, I would overlook the bathroom shortcomings and I would stay here again.

This is a small hotel, but with a great location. It's very near Forum Romanum and the Colosseum. Nice and friendly staff. I had a double room for single use, and that was very all right. But be aware that the breakfast (which is served next door), is not like we are used to in Northern Europe. No meat, eggs or anyhing like that. But that doesn't matter; I will come back anytime!

We chose this hotel after reading reviews on Tripadvisor, where this hotel was described as a good, cheap and clean place to stay in the centre of Rome. The location was very good, a very short walk from the Foro Romano and the Colosseo. The receptionists were also helpful and friendly. The air condition was a big relief, and worked well. The bathroom was spotlessly clean apart from a few mouldy stains, and it was cleaned daily, which we appreciated very much. The cleaning staff also cleaned the stairs and hallway daily. They were a bit too eager for us, however, when they also tidied up all our things every day by moving them around the room and into the drawers (I would recommend checking all drawers before you leave, to be sure you don't forget anything that the cleaners might have put away). The sheets were also crisp and clean. However, the room itself was NOT clean. There were stripes of grime on the walls and around the switches. The wall paper was torn in several places, giving the room a shabby look. Also, on the negative side, the walls were paper thin, so that when the people in the next room talked and laughed it sounded as if they were in the stairs talking to eachother from one floor to the next. Also, our room one day suddenly smelled of tobacco when we returned in the afternoon, which the receprionist told us probably was from people smoking in the room next door. Bad isolation also meant the cold air leaked out, which meant wasting unnecessary energy when using the air conditioning.

  • Liked — Location, bathroom cleaned daily, helpful receptionists
  • Disliked — Dirty room, thin walls. People with disabilities should be aware that although there is an elevator, it stops on the landing between floors, which means you have to walk up/down stairs to get to/from your room anyway.

We stayed at the Romano during our first night in Rome. It is a very convenient hotel to get to. Like many, we flew into Fiumacino. From there, we took the express train to Rome's Termini station. We were able to walk from Termini station to the Albergo Romano hotel in about 15 minutes. The hotel is PERFECTLY situated across the street from the Forum. It's also just one block from the Colosseum. A great location for seeing Rome. We actually walked all over the city from this little homebase. Our room had large windows and shutters overlooking the street in front as well as the Forum. The room was basic, but clean. The bathroom was basic, but had a nice hot shower and clean linens. The breakfast was lovely, and included a cappucino, glass of juice, warm croissant, and toast with jam. There is also a cafe next door selling gelato and warm paninis that is open late.

  • Liked — Proximity to Colosseum and Forum
  • Disliked — No Internet Connection to update my travel blog!
