Jul 26, 2007 | Trip type: Family

My family (husband and 3 teenage kids) and I stayed at the Erdarelli Hotel for 3 nights in July 2007, and we chose the hotel because of its location which couldn't be better. We stayed in one 3-bed room and one doubleroom, and though small and very basic, the rooms were OK: very clean, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms very clean and ok size. Our rooms were facing the backyard which didn't give much of a view, but it was very quiet. Breakfast on 3rd floor was served by a nice old lady; a roll, a "cake", toast cheese, jam, juice and coffee/tea.
If you're in Rome for sightseeing and not for hanging out in your hotel, and if you want a clean, basic room the Erdarelli is an OK choice.

We stayed in this hotel in rome for 5 nights and found it basic but clean. It is a very affordable place to stay in rome, near to most things. There is a metro stop five minutes walk away and a five minute walk in one direction will bring you to the spanish steps and ten mins in the other direction to the trevi fountain. The staff in the hotel were polite but not overly friendly. Breakfast was terrible but that is to be expected in most roman hotels. Over all if you are planning a budget holiday in rome, one step above a hostel this is a good place to stay.

The Erdarelli family is extraordinarily helpful. They're full of restaurant recommendations and suggestions for what to see. They have answers to all your Rome questions. The rooms are clean and larger than I expected from a European hotel. The included continental breakfast is satisfactory and got us through the morning every day. I would definitely go back.

Checked in, saw the room, rejected it, looked at other rooms, checked out!
Don't believe the pictures on the website, maybe that's how they were twenty years ago , but bear little resemblace to the hotels current run down state.
Rooms dirty (ingrained dirt) peeling wallpaper etc.
Wouldn't kennel my dog here - be afraid - very afraid.
Should have took photographs but in too much of a hurry to leave!

Our worst hotel experience in Italy

On our recent trip to Italy, we stayed in five hotels, all of which were fantastic.... except this one.

To begin, the entire hotel smells of smoke. We booked non-smoking rooms and yet each of our three rooms had not one, not two, but three ashtrays in each room.

The beds were, in fact, cots. All amenities were a joke... bathtubs/showers were tiny, A/C did not work. One room's 'balcony' was a 2-foot by 2-foot concrete patch overlooking the inner bowels of the building.

The included breakfast... well, its better not to speak of this. By far the worst food we had in Italy, and everything was pre-packaged!

And, to top everything off, each room was so dirty that we needed to bathe wearing sandals.

Please, do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. We left this hotel after one night, and found a vacancy in another hotel for only €5 more per night.
