We made our reservations directly from their site as my sister-in-law had recommended it. The location is excellent and if you go on to their site it gives directions as to how to get to the hotel by train and metro. HUGE help as you avoid the hassle of having to take a taxi and run the danger of being cheated. The room was clean, but very, very basic. Think small and narrow for the shower space. Central location meant one could walk everywhere and the buses and metro are close by. You can get directions from the manager to go anywhere. We even took the bus to the catacombs. Save yourself a lot of money by not having to pay for tours.

The Pensione Erdarelli is very well located near the Spanish Steps (Spagna), the Barberini metro stop (and the excellent fountain nearby), the Trevi fountain, and the Borghese Gardens - it's also walkable to the Vatican and the Colosseum/Forum area. Restaurants abound and gelateria are next door and across the street. For placement alone, given its price, it is good value. Yes, it is a bit faded. Yes, breakfast is sparse. Yes, the beds are *very* soft and the decor (though with some oddly excellent artwork here and there) is early 1960s (one feels there should be plastic on the sofas.) Yet that also has its charm, from the old-fashioned, tiny lift (and in Rome, that there is a lift matters) to the nooks and crannies. Everything works, and everyone is very friendly. We stayed here with our kids for three nights and would happily do so again.

My family (husband and 3 teenage kids) and I stayed at the Erdarelli Hotel for 3 nights in July 2007, and we chose the hotel because of its location which couldn't be better. We stayed in one 3-bed room and one doubleroom, and though small and very basic, the rooms were OK: very clean, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms very clean and ok size. Our rooms were facing the backyard which didn't give much of a view, but it was very quiet. Breakfast on 3rd floor was served by a nice old lady; a roll, a "cake", toast cheese, jam, juice and coffee/tea.
If you're in Rome for sightseeing and not for hanging out in your hotel, and if you want a clean, basic room the Erdarelli is an OK choice.

We stayed in this hotel in rome for 5 nights and found it basic but clean. It is a very affordable place to stay in rome, near to most things. There is a metro stop five minutes walk away and a five minute walk in one direction will bring you to the spanish steps and ten mins in the other direction to the trevi fountain. The staff in the hotel were polite but not overly friendly. Breakfast was terrible but that is to be expected in most roman hotels. Over all if you are planning a budget holiday in rome, one step above a hostel this is a good place to stay.

The Erdarelli family is extraordinarily helpful. They're full of restaurant recommendations and suggestions for what to see. They have answers to all your Rome questions. The rooms are clean and larger than I expected from a European hotel. The included continental breakfast is satisfactory and got us through the morning every day. I would definitely go back.
