As a teacher-guide, I've planned a school trip with a class of the liceum I work for. After an accurate search in the Internet, I've booked five triple-rooms for the students and a single room for me at the Hotel Felice.
As regards the location I've chosen that hotel for its position in the city: Felice's is in fact placed nearby Termini, the most important railway station of Rome and because of its position the hotel is really well linked to every important place of the city by buses, trams and tube.
Before the trip I've had already planned the trip day by day with visits to monuments, the ancient ruins, St.Peter and museums. By the way I have to say a HUGE thank to the hotel staff: at the reception they have suggested me some integration to our visits such as the ruins in the ancient Appia (a glorious ancient street built under Roman Enpire) or the visit to Gianicolo (one of the famous hill of Rome by which there is an incredible view of Rome). Without these suggestions me and my students would have lost these wonderful places.
I has really appricieted the hotel staff suggestions: they had been really kind, and not only as regards our trip. Being in fact the teacher of 15 young students I was quite worried for the behaviour of the guys: thanks God the staff of the hotel has been really patient with them, even if some students have done some mess during the night.
As regards the hotel, the rooms are well done and clean. The Wi-Fi internet connection in the hotel is really useful because its free (no additional charge) and so the students have had the possibility to be in touch with their familiar using internet too. If I had to suggest an hotel in Rome to other teachers I would say for sure Hotel Felice. Really good ,kind and patient staff and a really good linked nice place. For the next year school trip I will book for sure in that hotel.

Having read all the reviews on Trip Advisor (as I always do for all the hotels I stay in) I didn't have high expectations and was kept a very open mind and was trying to very realistic given the price I paid (135 Euros for 2 nights in a double room with shared bathroom).

I definitely don't expect to go to another country and have everyone speak English so I didn't mind the communication barrier. However, I must admit for the Rome hospitality industry the staff definitely didn't speak a lot of English.

Rooms: I booked the double room with shared bathroom. I thought the bathroom would be shared amongst 2-4 rooms. Upon arrival my boyfriend and I discovered it is 2 washrooms (located on one end of the hallway) amongst the whole floor. There were approximately 10 rooms on the floor and unfortunately we were in a room at the opposite end of where the washrooms were. My impression is this was definitely more like a hostel rather than a hotel (and I have stayed in both before).

Location: I read the reviews that the walk to Termini station was far however I thought that was subjective based on how fast an individual walks. Now that I've experienced it I will confirm the walk is about 10 minutes (depending on the route you take) one is on Via Marsala (the longer route but you will get to walk on sidewalks and not through a tunnel) the other is Via Giolotti (through a tunnel and past some tracks).

I would definitely say this hotel is more like a hostel. There actually seemed to be quite a few backpackers that stayed there. I wouldn't recommend staying more than 2 nights at this "hotel". Hostel Felice served it's purpose for a place to lay our heads but next time I'm going to opt to pay extra for a private bathroom or just book a hostel if I'm on a budget.

Regarding Hotel Felice, I can say that my family and myself passed a very good time there; we staied for 5 days in total to spend our holydays.

What I can say is that I found a nice place and enviroment: room were clean and even if we used the common toilet on the first day, the bathroom were in good conditions.
Regarding the staff, we've spoken to them not very much (we spent all the day out) but they gave us all the good suggestions to visit Rome taking care about the needs of the childrens (e.g. they suggested us a place instead of another)

About services we booked two different group visits (I reccommend the one about Villa d'Este, it's good for the childrens and to take wonderfull photographs); also i would like to advise the chance to use wi-fi connectivity as toll-free service (I've checked my office mail during the holydays).

I hope this review can help the other travellers

Best regards and Have fun!!!

JJ

This hotel is grossly misrepresented by its website. While there IS a nice outdoor balcony with free wifi, that is about the only redeeming feature. I stayed there for one night in July 2008 and the heat was absolutely unbearable (there is no air conditioning). I requested a fan and was never brought one. My room stank like a sewer (there was a bidet actually IN the shower). I opened the window to get some air and was kept up the entire night by a group of people who congregated directly under the window. I was supposed to stay for 3 nights but left after one. Despite what the Felice website says about a one night penalty for a late cancellation, they charged me for the entire 3 nights. Terrible service. I also felt like the walk from Termini was pretty desolate and as a woman travelling alone, I did not feel safe (I am an experienced traveller, am often on my own, and know the good areas from the bad). You can get a much better deal for the same price elsewhere in Rome. The Felice is a complete ripoff. There are other hotels in Rome that are the same price and offer much much more (air conditioning, closer to Termini etc.). For what they offer, the Felice should be charging at least 30-40% less. Oh, and the front of the hotel was covered in graffiti when I got there. nice. I should have never gone in.

Visited Felice Hotel last march with my boyfriend. Simple and charming hotel, clean and cosy room. Had no problems at all, and was pleased with our choice! Only drawbacks that is is a bit out of town and takes a while to get to the subway, maybe a 15-20 min walk. There is a few nice restaurants close by. I would recommened if you dont want to spend a fortune when in rome! and dont mind walking to the subway, which is a little far, especially if youre lazy like me!
