My husband and I spent a week at this hotel, the rate we paid was around 80 dls a night. The rooms are spacious and very clean, people at the reception are helpful and polite. The beds are kind of hard, that's the only thing I didn't like about the rooms. Also, our TV cable wasn't working and we asked them to fix it, but after waiting for 3 days for them to fix it, we had to ask them to move us to another room.We were on the 3rd floor and our room wasn't noisy at all.

Breakfast is served 7-10 every morning, but we found that it was best to show up before 8:30 to get better selection, otherwise they run out of boiled eggs, donnuts and flavoured yogurts (later they only have the plain ones), but every morning they have scrambled eggs, croisssants, bread, yogurt and cereals, tea, coffe, hot chocolate and capuccino.

I really liked the location of this hotel. Sure, I would have liked to stay in downtown Rome, but for the price and amenities of this hotel, we thought it was worth the commute. In the morning with traffic It could take 20-40 minutes to Termini station. In the afternoons and late at night it could take only 10 minutes with little traffic.

To get to this hotel you have to take Bus 90 that goes all the way up Nomentana Avenue, and get off at Montesacro (big park on the corner of Nomentana). From here you walk right and the hotel is only about 2 blocks from where you get off. There are small restaurants in the area, a fruit and vegetable store, convenience store, a small grocerie shop. we were surprised to see that a lot of these places are open till late at night, very convenient if you get hungry at night.

Would not recommend this hotel because guests do not have privacy with their visitors who come to visit and the receptionist was very rude to my Italian visitor. . I wanted to have my friend come into my hotel room for a short visit during the evening. At first we were told it was not possible because I have a single bed. So what…what does a bed have to do with my friend coming into my room for conversations?!?! I told him I've never had this type of issue of not having the freedom to have a guest in my room at any other hotel in Rome and this type of treatment from a receptionist doesn't even exist in America! I stated that this was an invasion of my privacy. In order to have my visitor come upstairs to my room I told the receptionist that we needed about 15 minutes to wash our hands and have some conversations out of public view. It was almost like being in a college dormitory asking the house mother for permission to have a person from the opposite sex come into my dorm room. Give me a break! The worst part of this scenario is the receptionist had the audacity to call up to my room to inform me that my visitor MUST come downstairs immediately and he has visited much too long in my room! My friend had only been in my room for 45 minutes. I was told that they would charge me for a double bed price if he doesn't come downstairs within 2 minutes!!! Once I and my friend arrived downstairs, the receptionist looked at me and shook his head as if we were children and had been naughty!!! What a nightmare… and my guest were offended which was quite disturbing to me.

Also, the room was small, had a musty odor, the beds are very hard, uncomfortable, it's very far from the center and restaurants are few and far between. Don’t patronize this hotel trust me...I’ve stayed in many hotels in Rome and have never ever had to make a negative comment about a hotel, ever. I would Not, Not, Not recommend this hotel at all and please take my experience into consideration as you review this hotel. Thanks!

I would suggest this hotel be rated as a 3 star. There are no major faults and I had a reasonable stay but if the “The Hilton London Metropole Hotel” is rated 4 Star this hotel cannot claim to be at an equal standard.

It is a bit far from the city around 15 min bus journey into the main station (Termini). The breakfast is exactly what it says American style, basically toast, ham and cheese with some machine made coffee/Juice and some cereal. The breakfast was good enough for me to start the day.

Some of the staff are very helpful and some are rude but my room was always very clean, and I had a Safe I could use as well.

If you look ate this as a 3 Star and don’t mind a Bus journey of 15 minutes into the city, then you will be happy with your stay. I probably wouldn’t stay here again, but it did not spoil my trip at all.

I have just arrived after a one week stay in Rome at Sunrise Hotel. As already stated the hotel is a bit far from the city center (30-40 minute bus ride) but i actually thought of it as an advantage because we also experienced real roman lifestyle: the local market in the morning with delicious cheap fruits, the local bakery and next to it the most amazing roman osteria Hostaria Menenio Agrippa. The menu has a special part just for roman cooking but also try the buffet of antipasti and the daily specials. The price for a meal for two is around 35-40 euros with drinks and desert.
As minuses: the rooms are not very big, with little space for luggage, not well sound proofed. Otherwise the hotel is very clean, the ventilation is working well, the breakfast was ok (very good croissants, not so good coffee) and the jacuzzi in the bathroom was perfect after a long day walking. You can also visit their terrace jacuzzi and have a nice view of the city. Take bus 60 to go in the center and 90 to get to termini station. I had week pass by all means of transport (16 euros) and it was useful for seeing sites that were away from the center.

Jun 25, 2009 | Trip type: Family

We travelled as a family with young children and decided to have a car to drive around in Rome. This was one of the few hotels that had parking that was free.
We booked for a quad room and were pleasantly surprised with a hotel room that had 2 small bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds with a small entrance. The bathroom was adequate with a spa, however ventilation was poor in the bathroom and had a really musty smell.
We went in Summer and thankfully the hotel room was fully airconditioned. The double bed was small but comfortable and our request for more pillows was easily met.
There was a very small 12inch TV with only one english channel, which was CNN.
Outside, there was a small heated spa, which was quite welcome after a long hot day but we were unsure about the chlorination as our bathers had a musty smell after the spa.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided in the morning was adequate with some bread rolls and croissants, spreads, ham and cheese. There was some cereal and orange juice. The coffee came from a preset machine and was poor, as there was not a no sugar option.
The hotel stated that it was central, and it was only a 5 min walk to the bus stop, but it took at least 30mins by bus to get into town.
For its price, it was convenient, however the distance meant that we couldn't go back for a rest and feel like we had the energy to make the trip back into town again for dinner.
There were few restaurants outside the hotel and no night life at all. One night we had to buy takeaway from the local pizzeria to eat back in the hotel room.
On the plus, it was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly. The negatives I have already outlined. In saying that, we would consider staying here again in the future.
